The Jefferson County Public School System has just purchased 1,200 two way radios for school buses. The new radio system cost the schools over $1.5 million dollars. Some people believe this purchase was in a direct response to the huge busing disaster at the start of the school year. Due to a massive busing mix-up, some area children did not get home on the first day of school until after 8p.m. Area JCPS parents were outraged, demanding improvements in the busing system overall. The new radios will support an effort for better communication to prevent another busing failure in the Louisville metro.
