As the snow falls on Atlanta, parents all over the city are panicking. Kids are home from school, and they are already bored. So what is a parent to do?
Try one of these four fun craft ideas using things already around the house. They are sure to keep them occupied for a few hours.
1. Snowman Plate Art – Have the children cut paper plates into different size circles and assemble like a snowman. Use crayons, markers, and craft embellishments (glitter, puff balls, etc if available) to decorate. Hang them on the refrigerator.
2. Paperbag Puppets – Using crayons or markers, have the children decorate the bags as their favorite animals. Use the bottom of the bag as the head and the rest of the bag as the body. Children can use pipe cleaners as wiskers, constrution paper as ears, and so much more!
3. Snow Art – Are the kids getting stir crazy? Dress them up in their warmest gear and send them outside! Using large sticks have them draw in the snow. Take pictures of their drawings so that once the snow melts the art work lives on forever.
4. Homemade Blocks – Using boxes of various sizes (from a jewelery box to a large storage box), have the kids decorate each box using markers, paints, crayons, or construction paper. Once the boxes are decorated help them stack them to make a fort or other hideout. This will surely keep them occupied for hours! Bonus: when they are done playing with them in a few days the boxes are still usable for storage.
