Wicked Moon is a musical for anyone whose heart has been hijacked by love and lived to tell about it. When is love real and when is it illusion? This is the question facing Arlene Lewis, her niece Kendra, and her best friend Sara. Since losing the man she loved, Arlene has devoted her life to running her cabaret, the Wicked Moon. Now the landlord wants to terminate her lease, and she is being harassed by his “expediter,” Pete, a man whose streetwise demeanor hides some unusual aspirations. Complications mount when Arlene’s favorite niece arrives with a fiancé, Carl, whose patronizing attitude toward all things cabaret threatens Arlene’s plans for the future. The Wicked Moon becomes a magnet for lost love when Arlene’s former lover, Dean, shows up newly divorced and drawn to discover the road not taken.
Auditioning actors should prepare two contrasting songs which show off voice-type, range, and storytelling ability. Please bring a headshot and resume stapled together, and be prepared to provide all potential conflicts for the evening-and-weekend rehearsal period Feb 5 – March 9. The production opens March10-12, 2011. Non-union/small stipend paid. All roles are open. A complete character breakdown and more information are available at: http://www.4thwalltheatre.org/shows/audition.html.
