So, you have a website and are fairly active online through social networking sites. However, you feel that there is something missing. You are right! The next step in your marketing efforts is to make sure that you keep the momentum going by maintaining a newsletter. Below are some tips that will help you get started.
While designing your own newsletter is fairly easy to do, it can be time-consuming. Mailchimp is probably one of the best free email marketing services right now. The list of features is impressive. For example, you can schedule delivery, share your newsletters on social networks and see complete stats (who opened, who clicked, etc.).

Include the following information in your newsletter
–Name of your business in the “From” section. Recipients should recognize you immediately.
–Relevant subject line that sums up the content of your newsletter.
–Unsubscribe link that lets people remove themselves from your list immediately.
–Contact information, such as email address and phone number.
–A short message reminding subscribers that they are receiving your message because they signed up for your newsletter.
Make it personal and friendly
If your newsletter provider allows it, personalize the message by having the recipient’s name appear at the beginning. It is the best way to grab the person’s attention.
If you cannot personalize your message, ask your subscribers how they are and a question regarding current events or something that interests them. These subscribers are your niche of potential/repeat buyers, so make sure that you do your homework.
Why not even include a picture of you — or one of your products? Most people are visual and like to see the face behind the message.
Make your newsletter easy to read
People have short attention spans; they like to scan. So use bullets and visual markers that will help them find the information that they are looking for. Write short paragraphs — not more than 250 words. And if you should feature interviews, long stories or articles, share the first paragraph and link it to the full piece on your Website or blog. It is also another way to create more traffic to your pages.
Make your subscribers feel special
A newsletter is part of the customer service package. It is another way to communicate your company’s message. So, it should be very professional.
Always thank subscribers, even if they never attend your events or purchase your products. And make them feel very special. Use your newsletter to announce exclusive news and share personal anecdotes, useful tips/information, survey/polls and special offers.
Only send a newsletter when you have something useful to say. And do not use bright fonts and all CAPS subject lines. People hate screamers. ;-)
