99ers waiting for a unemployment extension in 2011 that will encompass this group of long term unemployed, do not have very many places to turn for help. Online articles will keep the 99ers abreast of any new or updated information regarding an unemployment extension. A few really good blogs and websites for the 99ers offers a place to support each other so they do not feel alone, but how do you take action as a group when you are spread all over the US from Connecticut to Alaska?
Useful, Unique, and Unified is the heading on the website UCubed. 31 million Americans face the same problems that all the unemployed face, including the 99ers. One of the readers of the Hartford Unemployed articles asked that the UCubed site be explored in an article. It is a place that sounds like a registry for unemployed people, where their names and the number of them will start to count for something.
The website offers a place to “take control” and this may be what the 99ers, along will all the unemployed who may be a 99er someday themselves, to start to unify and count. The jobs are not out there and are not coming anytime soon, this is been said by some of the top experts in this area, such as Ben Bernanke, who reports it will be 4-5 years before jobs are where they should be for the amount of workers in this nation, according to CNBC.
“Help 31 million unemployed American’s organize” is what the goal of the UCubed website appears to be. Connecting to other 99ers for more than support, but action, may be what needs to happen with the state of the nations joblessness. Until now, the only voices that mattered were the voices in the House, Senate, and White House. There is no venue for the 99ers to speak.
It sounds like the UCubed website, which is a free website, is interested in unifying the 99ers and the unemployed. By organizing the unemployed, they will have a voice. The Tea Party organized and they are a force to be reckoned with. Politicians from both sides of the isle are keeping an eye on this party. The 99ers need to be the next group that is a force to be reckoned with!
Not that the 99ers equate with the Tea Party in any way, it is just an example of how people united into one voice that makes Washington stand up and take notice.
Connecticut was one of the states that fared a little better than most when it came to the unemployed and 99ers. The unemployment numbers for Connecticut is at 9%, but with the news from the Connecticut Technology Council that the technology jobs that were on a rise in Connecticut are now on a down hill run, this could change the numbers for the Nutmeg State, bringing the numbers up closer to the national average!
