There is about one month until the Osage Hills ACTHA ride on 14 May 2011. This is a great chance for those people living in and near Tulsa to enter an ACTHA ride. The Osage Hills State Park is very seldom open for equestrian trail riding. The scenery will be beautiful.
If you need to travel from a long distance there are camping sites available. $3.00 for primitive camping. Generators are welcome. RV sites available first come first serve as there are no reservations. The cost is $20 night. There are no horses allowed at the RV sites.
Horseshoes or boots are suggested for this ride. The terrain can be rocky.
On the day of the event breakfast will be burritos, coffee, juice, water. Lunch will be served. The menu will be a fresh fish fry, potato salad, coleslaw, beans, water and tea. Also there will be a tack sale. So bring items you may want to get rid of. There will a person to take care of it while on the ride. Have it priced and your name on it before ride out.
From Tulsa: Take Highway 75 north to Bartlesville then go west on Highway 60 until you to get to Highway 123. Then turn north until you get the lighted four way stop at Frank Phillips. Turn left/west back onto Highway 60 and travel 11 miles. There will be an Osage Hills State Park sign on the south side of the highway.
From Kansas: Take Highway 75 south to Tuxedo Ave. Turn west and continue until you get to the lighted four way stop at Frank Phillips. Turn west an go about 11 miles. There will be an Osage Hills State Park sign on the south side of the highway.
From Missouri: Using interstate 244 west and get off at the Vinita exit onto Highway 60. Continue west for approximately 60 miles to Bartlesville. Get on Highway 75 and turn north for about 1 mile. There will be a large green sign giving directions to get back onto Highway 60 west. Highway 60 turns into Adams Blvd through Bartlesville. Go under overpass and flow right. Go through 5 signal lights until you reach Highway 123. Turn right (north). Go to four way stop signal light and turn left (west). Go approximately 11 more miles. There will be a sign to the park on south side of the road. ACTHA signs will be posted.
