The title role for NBC’s “Wonder Woman” reboot has been cast, with only contender invited to screen test. Adrianne Palicki has won the role, according to Deadline Hollywood. Palicki attracted a lot of attention with her performances on Fox’s short-lived “Lone Star” and NBC’s “Friday Night Lights.” Now she’ll take on the iconic role memorably played by Lynda Carter in the seventies in executive producer David E. Kelley’s reimagining.
In the new version, Wonder Woman/Diana Prince (Palicki) is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all the elements of her life. Kelley, best-known for his quirky legal dramedies, may seem an odd choice for a DC Comics adaptation, but you have to give the network credit for thinking outside the box.
The pilot will reunite Palicki with director Jeff Reiner, who previously served as director/co-executive producer on “Friday Night Lights” for the early days of that series’ run.
