Adrianne Palicki’s “Wonder Woman” undertaking is forcing the “Friday Night Lights” star to power up. Trading in her former typecast of “trampy” and typical, Adrianne will soon slip into the famously-starred, Wonder Woman suit and be tapping into her stronger self to play the part.
Here’s why Adrianne Palicki will shift into superstar mode for NBC’s “Wonder Woman” remake…
FIT FOR SPANDEX: PALICKI’S A SELF-CONFESSED “JOCK”
Adrianne Palicki is an athlete. Since she can’t be Wonder Woman and be wimpy, it’s helps the 27-year-old actress has mad, athletic skills on her resume. Referring to herself as “more of a jock” versus a sideline-bound cheerleader, Adrianne’s willing to put the effort into personal training and her past movie history suggests she can withstand a little bit of on-screen battle.
“I was a basketball player, and I ran track,” said Adrianne of her athletic stealth. In another interview, the Toledo, Ohio bombshell fessed up to “kicking ass” in “Legion” and doing it well- Despite wearing a 10-pound “pregnant belly” weight.
SHE’s FREAKY OVER COMIC BOOK CHARACTERS
Adrianne admits to having a juvenile infatuation with comic book characters and even says she always wanted to be one. The proof? Check out her Supergirl tattoo – one of many – that proves her love for comic books had an early start.
Two of her other tattoos are the names of her parents. While she may be tough stuff, towering above common folk at Amazonian height, Palicki’s got a soft spot for childhood memories and her roots.
CELIAC DISEASE DOESN’T GET HER DOWN
When she’s not filming, Palicki stays devoted to adopted hometown Austin, TX (shared by actress Sandra Bullock) and maintains a gluten-free diet for a healthier her. Adrianne has celiac disease, a condition that takes a toll on the small intestine and affects about 1 out of every 100 people. In an interview with Men’s Health magazine, Adrianne openly discussed having CD and said she digs gluten-free cupcakes – “The best gift” she ever got from a guy.
ADRIANNE ON REMAKES: “IF IT WAS PERFECT, I WOULDN’T REDO IT”
While Wonder Woman wasn’t her top comic book pick, she does have a pet peeve with lousy remakes – A positive note for the second generation “Wonder Woman.”
“If they’re well done, then great,” she says. “The biggest disappointment on Earth is to see something that was great to begin with and then they redo it…You cannot remake perfection. With action movies, I think it’s a little different.”
Action definitely required for the 5-foot-11 brunette (naturally blonde) who will be filling the red boots in a role sought after by the larger likes of Beyonce Knowles, Angelina Jolie, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Christina Hendricks.
That’s a tall order for Palicki but according to first-time Wonder Woman Lynda Carter, she thinks Adrianne is more than fit for the part. Check out Palicki’s pics at left…
