Planning to stay in for Valentine’s and avoid the crowds? Below is a whole day’s worth of aphrodisiac meals to start your Valentine celebration. You know how the saying goes….”The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” But if it’s a woman you aim to please, being romantic and creative with food is definitely going to win you major points as well.
Breakfast in bed:
Fruit salad – Plump strawberries, luscious grapes, juicy cantaloupe and sweet mango are just the beginning to fun that could be had feeding each other pieces of appealing fruit. Get crazy and melt some chocolate for dipping, and let your imagination wander on what to do with the leftover chocolate.
Mini chocolate filled croissants – The believed aphrodisiac effect caused by chocolate dates back to the Aztecs and Mayans. One Aztec ruler reportedly drank 50 cups of chocolate each day to better serve his harem of 600 women (hmmmm….now-a-days men just pop the little blue pill. Chocolate sounds more fun, wouldn’t you agree?)
Lunch time nooner:
Grilled asparagus – According to the Law of Similarities, the theory states that if something looks like something else, then it will improve or aid that which it looks like. Well, asparagus is definitely a phallic symbol, so it is safe to say that it could improve or aid in sex.
Oysters on the half shell – Perhaps the greatest of all aphrodisiacs, the oyster symbolizes virility and passion for all who indulge. The sheer visual effects of the oyster should do it for you, but if not, consider that oysters are very low in fat, high in complex sugars and proteins, and loaded with zinc….a key ingredient to testosterone production, hence, enhancing sexual performance for both genders.
Libations – Alcohol was served throughout history as the basis for most love potions. Today, we rely on alcohol for it’s “liquid courage” effect, lowering inhibitions and offering aphrodisiacal powers. So pick your poison. I recommend a lovely red or white, or champagne. But if it’s body shots or cocktails you prefer, go for it.
Fig, apple and Brie bruschetta – Figs were a very popular addition during Dionysian orgies thousands of years ago, due to the Law of Similarity as well as its succulent sweet flavor. Combined with the creaminess of the cheese and the crunchy apple, this makes for a tasty beginning to any meal.
Crab legs – Shelled and dipped in melted butter, then hand fed to each other can be very sensual, and messy, so, best if eaten in little clothing. That leaves lots of options open for cleaning up the butter too. In fact, I recommend having a picnic on your floor, lay out a blanket or sheet so you don’t have to worry about where the butter is dripping…..if you know what I mean.
