I have been writing about monetizing here, trying to make enough money on the internet to continue traveling without dipping into my savings.
The goal was to get 10 people to start following me here on Atlanta World Travel Examiner. Since the plan’s inception, I do not believe anyone has done that. I am still a rookie on these pages. Just found out yesterday where people post comments, and where I need to go to reply back. That is why I say “I do not believe”. They could have, and I just do not know it.
Yesterday, I had the biggest amount of traffic I have ever had on Atlanta World Travel Examiner. 1,324 for the day. Much better then the 80 I had been averaging over the last 2 months. That resulted in a $8.73 payment.
If I can double that amount per day, I can live and travel in Central America for the rest of my life.
You think that I have some knowledge of what I am doing? I will hopefully shatter that thought – I know nothing about the internet marketing, socializing or monetizing requirements. I am flying by the seat of my pants, scouring the web to find what I need to learn and do to get this internet business off the ground.
In your comfy home, you could well imagine that I am sitting in my comfy hotel room. Again, let me erase that idea from you mind – I am in a little shack of a cabin, on the shore of Lago Yojoa, Honduras. Daily, the WIFI goes out for a period of time. Almost a guarantee that we will loose electricity here for at least 1 or 2 hours. An easy place to work on the internet, don’t you think?
What do I do if I loose the WIFI for some random reason? I learn Spanish, I take pictures or I sit on the back porch of my cabin, look over Lago Yojoa to the mountains on the other side, and think, “This is why I am learning this internet stuff. I want to see similar places in Nicaragua, Panama and South America. This is what I WANT TO DO!!!!”
The plan has been hatched, and I have been posting on facebook and twitter, like the marketing and monetizing guru’s have told me.
I have had a search engine go through my website, The Big Mozey and corrected some of the mistakes on the site. I have other mistakes that have shown up, but I do not know how to alter the website to alleviate those. The wonderful fun of flying by one’s seat.
The reason I share this: the information is out on the web for one to learn all that is needed to do this. I am a total idiot when it comes to this internet writing, monetizing, SEO, keyword and code stuff. I am not dumb – I am very good (Well, I am some what good?) at other things. But this stuff? Wow, I feel like I am in Blue Hole National Park in Belize trying to find the correct path again. TOTALLY LOST!
The swift kick in my behind was yesterday. 1,324 people came to Atlanta World Travel Examiner to read what I had written.
Was it a fluke? Probably. You see, over 800 of those people were from China. Now, who in China (800 people who read English? Get out of Dodge!) is interested in what the Atlanta World Travel Examiner has to say?
1,324 people – 800 Chinese = 524 other people who really might read English, also looked!
Ted Williams, the last .400 ERA hitter in baseball , wrote a book. He set up rectangular strike zone and placed billiard balls in each area of the strike zone. He then put a percentage on each ball that showed the odds of getting a hit if you swung at the ball in that particular area of the strike zone.
Many people love to play softball and hardball. Do you think that book is always a best seller? Afraid not. The information is out there for all the baseball players. Few take the time to look at the basics of what the last great baseball player laid out for them.
The same analogy can be used with people doing anything on the internet, myself included. The question I asked myself was, “Am I really going to do this internet business, or use every excuse under the skies to NOT do it”.
After this article, I will go to the back porch on my little cabin, look over Lago Yojoa, and say to myself, “This is why I just spent hours typing an article for Atlanta World Travel Examiner. I just love countries and scenery like this”.
I will give myself a chance to think about all the good times I have had, the great National Parks I have seen and the wonderful people I have met.
I wll then be ready to enjoy more of the journey as Atlanta World Travel Examiner.
Cheers from the shore of Lago Yojoa, Hoduras Central America.
