Stop the motor of the world. Atlas shrugged, a movie 53 years in the making, based off of what is arguably Ayn Rand’s greatest work, has a release date.
You can view the trailer here, at the film’s official website, and the cast can be found on imdb.com.
Also, if you haven’t read the book, you can order it directly from the Ayn Rand Institute’s website. Judging by its over 500,000 sales in 2009, and the 200,000 likes on Facebook, all the cool kids are doing it.
For those unfamiliar with the story and adverse to reading Great American Novels, the sparknotes, Cliffnotes, and haters can be found online.
The story is a fictional outline of Ayn Rand’s philosophy, Moral Objectivism, set in 1940s America with small hints of science fiction added in. However, the political situation is one the modern and ancient readers alike will find very familiar.
