We were big, big fans of Banksy’s Exit Through The Gift Shop (certainly the best documentary released last year, and a strong candidate for best film of the year, period), so any new morsels of information about Banksy, his film, or the street art scene are of major interest to us here at Comedy Examiner HQ. If you’ve seen the film, you probably feel the same way, and if that’s how you feel, well, you’ll probably wanna check out the video we’ve got below, my gentle Examiner readers…
Banksy’s Exit Through The Gift Shop has been nominated for an Academy Award in the “Best Documentary” category, and we’re rooting for the film to take the Oscar next Sunday night (we’re also rooting for The Social Network as “Best Picture”, but it– sadly– looks like The King’s Speech is setting itself up for a massive sweep). It’s been called to my attention that some of you still haven’t seen Exit Through The Gift Shop, and that’s a terrible, unforgivable crime…but we may have a way to help you.
If you’ve already seen Exit Through The Gift Shop, the video on the left is– very basically– more of the same: you’ve got footage of some of Banksy’s artwork interspersed with talking-head interviews with people associated with the “street art” scene. If you haven’t seen Exit Through The Gift Shop, consider the video on the left a “primer” of sorts, introducing you to Banksy and setting the stage for the documentary that you should’ve seen months ago.
We were pointed in the direction of this clip by FilmDrunk.com, and they were pointed in its direction by a strange video (the same one, in fact) that popped up on Vimeo this morning. If you head over to FilmDrunk, you can learn a little about the shenanigans surrounding this clip, and we recommend that you do if you consider yourself a fan of Banksy’s film (or art): it’s interesting stuff.
