Baby Yoga video with Lena Fokina shocks and prompts warnings from pediatricians
Baby Yoga Video Viral on YouTube
A YouTube video is causing not only a stir but an outcry. On January 21, 2011 the Baby Yoga video was featured on Tampa Bay’s ABC Action news and prompted a local health care official to weigh in. June Vineyard, Nurse Leader at University Community Hospital, shared her warnings and concerns from what was seen in the video. The ‘baby yoga’ video depicts a Russian yoga guru, Lena Fokina, as she swings an infant overhead by one arm, and even seemingly tosses the baby behind her back and around. The video prompted many to suspect it was a fake; unfortunately, it is not. The shockingly, disturbing video is authentic.
“It’s against everything that we try to teach our parents, “ June Vineyard told Tampa’s ABC Action News. “The baby’s brain is undeveloped; the shaking around of the baby’s brain,” were just a few problems Vineyard identified in the video.

She was just two weeks old when she was subjected to what Fokina calls “dynamic gymnastics” for newborns.” Mr. Thornburgh explains the video was filmed approximately two years ago and the child’s father, Sashka Goryun, only uploaded the video two months ago. Mr. Thornburgh reports that the child not only survived the tossing but is seemingly a healthy, normal toddler.
