Fantasy Flight Games has announced several new expansions coming to their Battlelore line up for Spring of this year and pre-orders have begun in many gaming stores already. New Battlelore Expansion material will include Battlelore – Code of Chivalry for the core Battlelore game, Battles of Westeros – Lords of the River Expansion, and a Battles of Westeros Premium Banner Pack as well. Battlelore and Battlelore – Battles of Westeros are popular table top strategy war board games that have seen massive popularity ever since their releases, with the Battles of Westeros tied into the Game of Thrones fiction and mythos. For more information on Battlelore, you can read a review I wrote on it HERE which details some of the in’s and out’s of the game and its system. Battlelore is one of my favorite table top war games as I love the featured command and colors game engine it uses and also, I really appreciate that you can play a battle or game of Battlelore with a friend in the span of about 45 minutes, which is very difficult to find in true strategy, table top war gaming.
The Battlelore – Code of Chivalry expansion set will build on units and concepts from previous expansion editions in the Hundred Year War set and the Scottish Wars set expansions. It will build up your Human armies with six total unit type, two from each of the previously mentioned sets, and two new units, featuring Knights, Lancers, and Arbalestiers. The expansion set will also come with six new Deployment cards to be used with the Call to Arms expansion, allowing you to integrate the new expansion into that battle set up system if you like. Code of Chivalry will also come with four new adventure scenarios to play or use. It is set for release on March 8th, 2011, with a suggested retail price of $25.00 to $40.00 depending on where you find it and what pre-orders are set at.
Battles of Westeros – Lords of the River will be a House Tully Expansion set. You will be able to command your Riverland Rider troops with the famous characters of House Tully fame such as Edmure Tully, “Blackfish” Tully, or Marq Piper. This expansion will provide new terrain, House Tully “Gambit” and “Skirmish” cards, new key word play such as “Riverborn” and “Indirect Fire” that will represent House Tully’s familiarity with River and River land terrain battles. This set will also be the first new expansion to feature premium or plastic and stickered banners with the set instead of the card board tokens used previously. These will replace the tokens previously used in the core set. Release date is set for the Spring of 2011, with a suggested retail price of $19 – $30 depending on pre-order and where you find it.
The last item set for Spring release and pre-order is this Battles of Westeros Premium Banner Pack set. This new plastic and sticker sheet set will allow you to replace the old card board banner markers from previous editions of Battles of Westeros as it comes with 44 new plastic banners for army use with accompanying red, blue, and green sticker sheets to upgrade your troop tokens for both House Lannister and House Stark. Suggested retail price is $7 – $9.95 in most stores.
