Todd English P.U.B.’s food and drink revealed…
Be sure to check out Part 1 for Todd English P.U.B.’s cover review.
Fruli Raspberrry: Those into sweet drinks will love this beer’s strong raspberry flavor and smooth taste; more like a juice drink than anything else.
‘Chocolate Covered Raspberry’: Half Fruli Raspberry and half Young’s Chocolate Stout, this sweet, thick, and bold beer goes with any order, even dessert.
Strongbow Cider: Poured on its own or mixed with beer, this semi-sparkling cider holds sweet taste and a strong punch.
Pyramid Audacious Apricot Ale: Two levels of taste begin with mild fruit and finish with a neutral undertone.
Apple Unibroue Ephemere: This slightly bitter beer should appeal to the hearty drinker looking for a twang of fruit.
Dirty Chips: This hearty appetizer stacks a sizeable mound of kettle chips with bacon and a drizzle of blue cheese dressing. Fried chicken livers on the side should not be overlooked, adding strong flavor and a good crunch.
Lobster Poppy: Large lobster chunks and creamed corn combine in a bisque-like sauce, held together in Yorkshire pudding that stands to be lighter and flakier.
Duck Buns: Similar to dim sum pork buns, shredded duck and hoisin sauce have strong flavor in a sweet puff bread.
Shrimp Cocktail: Jumbo shrimp on a chrome ice platter have mild flavor, well-paired with Todd English’s exceptional cocktail sauce.
Braised Clams: Prepared with sliced garlic and bacon, the clams hold strong character but fall short with a rubbery texture.
Corn Dog Puppies: The batter doesn’t stray too far from the traditional recipe, served in a basket of equally average fries.
Entrees and the Carvery
Corned Beef: Thick-cut meat boasts extraordinary flavor with rich consistency and a noticeable hint of salt. Best paired with horseradish sour cream and black truffle mayo.
Confit Duck Legs: Meat nearly falls off the bone with a flavor that matches its tenderness. Best paired with maple soy and Todd English barbecue sauce.
Pastrami: Generous slices of rich meat contain a mild zest with pepper crust. Best paired with blue cheese fondue and black truffle mayo.
Brown Butter Lobster Rolls: Chunks of Maine lobster and brown butter aioli become a rich mix of taste and texture, sealed with a crisped sweet roll. Parts of the lobster were dry and overcooked, but this signature item delivers pleasing taste.
From the Raw Bar
Alaskan King Crab Legs: Massive crab legs with exceptionally succulent meat add an elegant seafood element to the PUB that should not be undermined. Cocktail sauce adds strong flavor, but overpowers the meat. Ask for drawn butter.
Maine Lobster: A whole lobster cut into halves allows for easy access to a rich tail and claws, though not as standout as the crab.
East Coast/West Coast Oysters: Large oysters on the half shell contain strong seafood flavor.
Chocolate Rendezvous: A decadent peanut butter marshmallow layer covers rich chocolate brulee. Served a la mode on request.
Seven Delightful Sins: Small but rich, these ice cream sandwiches use homemade chocolate chip cookies with chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, mint chocolate chip, caramel, cinnamon, and green tea ice creams.
Godiva Mousse: A strong raspberry puree adds substantial character atop mild chocolate flavor.
Blueberry Cheesecake: A strong cream cheese taste overpowers all other elements.
*Todd English PUB has just revamped its dessert menu. Be on the lookout for new creations like s’mores pie and the ‘olde skool’ chocolate bomb.
