Teams are splintered, gameplay backfires, and a leader leaves this week. We’re at week 12 of Biggest Loser season 11 and it’s time to shuffle teams again. But this time there are an unheard-of four teams – green (Cara), red (Brett), black (Jillian) and blue (Bob).
People are freaking out, but Bob – of course — reassures everyone that things will be fine. He even says it can be an opportunity to learn from someone new. But tell that to people who say they’re gonna puke from the stress. So how do the teams stack up?
- Red: Justin, Jen, Courtney,
- Green: Austin, Ken, Kaylee
- Blue: Moses, Irene, Olivia
- Black: Rulon, Hannah
Quote of the week, from Hannah: “Thank you, Jesus, for giving me Jillian, although she will kill me and I will be coming to you shortly.”
But, hey, there’s someone missing for the black team! Hannah and Rulon get to choose a previously eliminated contestant to return to the ranch and join the black team. Hannah immediately suggested Arthur. Rulon was thinking Jay
Bob took his crew to Crunch Fitness, his old spinnin’ grounds. He still teaches spin classes there. Bob spun ol’ Moses into a sweaty puddle.
Jillian took her team to her awesome Malibu home. But before they hit the beach chairs, Jillian rode Rulon like a pony and sent Hannah running on the beach.
(Then they go and ruin the suspense by showing the “emotional weigh-in” with Jay in a black T-shirt!)
Brett sent his team running up a steep hill. Then he had his team branch off and spend time reflecting.
And where did Cara take her team? To a boxing gym – no surprise. (She’s a bit of a one-trick pony.) She girded up Austin to fight some scary looking dude in the ring.
The challenge: Amid colored lights and flames, the black team sent out Jay (quelle surprise!). Jay’s now down 111 pounds since the first week and he also gets immunity this week. Each team has their total combined weight hanging over a pool of water. The team that holds up their weight the longest wins a video chat from home. After nearly 30 minutes, green team simply gave up and let their weight fall. Black team was next to fall. After 45 minutes they had to go to one hand with no switching. Justin dropped from the red team, the blue team fell, and that left the red team. But even though they won, they gave their video chats to the blue team.
After the sweet video chats (where was Irene’s?), it was Last-Chance Workout time. Boxing, punching, spinning, sweating, screaming – the usual. The highlight, though, was the tug of war with Bob and Jillian on one side and Rulon on the other side.
Weigh-in: The team with the lowest percentage of weight loss will face elimination, and the biggest loser from the losing team gets immunity. So how’d they do? (FYI, it’s Braided Pigtails week for the women, apparently.)
- Jay: 7 (his weight doesn’t count and he’s immune)
- Hannah: 4
- Rulon: 5
- Moses: 3
- Irene: 5
- Olivia: 5
- Jen: 4
- Courtney: 3
- Justin: 2
- Kaylee: 0 (She said she asked her team “to do something really hard” because she wanted to go home. Hmmm…)
- Austin: 3
- Ken: 7
So it appears that Kaylee asked her team to take a dive to send her home but Ken lost too much to send green to the chopping block. Then things got a little testy when Ken said that the only way to leave the Biggest Loser ranch is to be eliminated, to which Alison replied “this place is not a prison.” So Kaylee could simply leave the show but then her time with the show would be over and there would still be an elimination for someone else. Moses talked to his daughter. “Mom would want you to stay,” he told her. And she decided to stay. Ken’s 7-pound loss was great, but bittersweet for him.
The red team was up on the chopping block. Jen had the highest percentage so it was going to be Justin or Courtney – two people who really have a shot at winning the whole thing. Everyone else would cast the votes. Justin told everyone that the decision was easy – send him home. Courtney countered that Justin was a great motivator and teacher and that he should stay. But they respected Justin’s wishes and sent him home this week.
Wow, what an emotional elimination, huh?
The update: Justin started at 365 pounds and as of today he’s now 225 pounds. Justin is leading others at Rulon’s gym in Utah. And he’s got T-shirts for Justin’s Call Out – his way to get others up off the couch.
Next week: A mystery team joins the ranch and something fishy’s going on with Rulon!
