Did you know that the price of chocolate is on the rise just in time for Valentine’s Day? No, it’s not the typical price hike one expects during this season of chocolate hearts and roses. According to USA Today the cost of cocoa is going up due to a ban on exports from the Ivory Coast. So before you fork over extra money for the same ole same ole, consider an entirely different choice: Cupcakes!
Sweets for your sweet is a specialty at Bliss, the newest bakery sensation in the McDonough, Georgia Square. Owner Shelley DeLisle, a stay home mom with a flair for cake decorating, opened up the bakery in March of 2010. You may have seen her before opening the bakery at her mother’s gift shop on the square, Secret Garden. This is her first Valentine’s Day since opening the bakery and they are going all out to bring you creative and delicious sweets to give to your sweetie. I know, I’m going overboard on the sweet theme, but I can’t resist.
I visited Bliss to sample what they had to offer and I was sold the minute I walked in the door. The smell of fresh baked cupcakes hits your nose and calls to you so that saying no to any of the delectable things in the case is virtually impossible. I tried their famous Key-lime Cupcake and ended up taking home a dozen of the other cupcake flavors. They feature a daily flavor such as Bubble Gum, Butter Caramel, Chocolate Bliss, Red Velvet and of course Key-lime. They also offer other special order flavors that I don’t have room to list. You can check them out at their site. Their latest addition to the bakery is homemade fudge. I will absolutely be back for that!
Not only do they offer baked goods like cupcakes, specialty cakes, wedding cakes, butter bars and cinnamon rolls, you can also sign up for their hands on classes that include cake and cookie decorating. They even offer a Kids Camp at different times during the year. What a great activity for you mom’s out there. Go have fun with your little ones making a mess and let Shelley and her staff clean it up after!
They also offer a section in the store for retail gifts. You can actually do all your Valentine’s shopping right there in that little bakery on the square, and I recommend having a cupcake in hand while you shop!
Be sure to check out the slideshow, just so you can see how yummy it all looks. Go visit Shelley and staff and tell them Angel sent you in. Try the Key-lime Cupcake, you won’t regret it!
