Last night there was a presentation on TV unfamiliar to this author and a horror for this grandmother.
Unable to sleep, I found myself switching the channels to the usual paid commercials which are usually on late at night and stopped to see a show that actually turned my stomach.
Please tell me I was dreaming? Little baby girls dressed like hookers and gyrating with everything but the pole to do their dances. They come out on the stage taking their clothes off like a stripper. The torture that these children are put through should be considered child abuse in any state in this country.
This seems to be a growing “illness” among parents even in the metro-Atlanta area where many of these pageants are conducted each year. Parents are allowing someone to make big bucks while they make big fools of themselves.
These precious babies are trussed up, painted, up and have heavy hairdos that nearly cause them to tip over. They are paraded like show horses before a small live audience of parents, grandparents, and other interested parties.
This show takes you through the paces even giving a photo of these precious little girls before they are all glued and pasted together; and they are beautiful and darling; and then they show the after photos of these children when the parents have pulled their hair, stretched their endurance, and made them into baby clowns.
One little girl said she was tired and she looked it. Her mother kept feeding her Pixy Stix which I believe are nothing more than flavored sugar. She did not feel her infant child had enough “pep” to perform to win a trophy. I think she said she had 8 Pixy Stix; and her mother said they were the way to go. Does this not set these little ones up to one day take other additives to give them the feeling of pep they desire for some performance or other? Could this cause them to become diabetic as well? Or even overweight?
What is wrong with these people? What is going through their heads? There is one very overweight Daddy who makes all his little darling’s costumes; and then he goes through all of the gyrations with her and she looks to him for her every clue and movement. She was presented in the finals as Lady GaGa – who in the world would want their precious little girl to look and act like that? This is a disgrace which is beyond words to describe.
It cost a lot of money to buy these little costume dresses and a lot of money to travel from state to state and no doubt there are entrance fees; and they put these children through a living !@#$ just to take home a trophy? They could go to the corner trophy store and buy the biggest trophy they have for what they spend on these disgraceful performances.
These children are apparently fulfilling some desire of the parents to get attention for themselves. There is a disease called Munchhausen by proxy. It is where a parent will put a child through just about anything in order to get attention for themselves. Many make their own children sick in order to go to the hospital and get attention from the staff. While this usually involves the medical aspect, it still seems to fit with these parents as well. http://kidshealth.org/parent/general/sick/munchausen.html
Last night a little girl of 2 – 3 was dressed like Madonna. She came on stage dressed in an angel’s costume which she ripped off like a stripper and she had pointed gold “hooters” like Madonna. It shocked the judges and the audience; and yet, they all thought that was completely acceptable. This grandmother did not find it so at all.
These little innocents are exploited and made to feel terrible by berating parents who chew them out if they did not “perform” well. You can actually see the parents in the audience performing the routine along with them. Perhaps they should get up on the stage and be judged for “Most Stupid Parent of the Year Award.” They are messing with these children’s psyche which could one day lead to serious physiological problems.
In Proverbs it says, “Train up a child in the way it should go and when it is old, it will not depart from it.” Is this what they want their children to be when they grown up – hookers and strippers?
Another one comes to mind: “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4
For heaven’s sake, go to Party City and buy them a crown, a wand, and an outfit and let them traipse around the house in it; and put the money that would be spent on pageants in their college fund. If ever anyone needed to “get a life,” it is these parents. Next time I can’t sleep I will count the tiles in the ceiling.
These innocent little girls go through so much because they get praise and attention from their parents; but one day what else will they do to get their attention?
There is a big interest in children having Happy Meals and eating potato chips at school lunch rather than carrots, but this type of behavior can destroy a child for the rest of their lives.
One of the fathers was so disappointed that his little girl did not win the Supreme Princess title, he just made excuses and disbelief that she was a runner up for the second time. He just picked up his stuff and began to leave. I wonder if at any time he took her in his arms and loved her and told her it was okay to be a failure at 2-3 years old. He then made the remark that their ultimate goal was for her to win the Miss America Pageant? Just think she has at least sixteen more years of this stuff.
What in the world is going on? Pass me another gulp of Pepto. You may want one too before your view this video. Forgive me if I am further exploiting this child; but you would have to see it to believe it and perhaps someone will have some idea how to stop it.
Can’t this be outlawed like dog fighting or something? Follow this story on TV Replay at
