The battle between high pressure building into our region from the Tennessee Valley, and low pressure departing over the Canadian Maritimes will make for a blustery start to the work week across the immediate Capital Region. A band of lake effect activity has even made it down the Mohawk Valley into the region this morning. Nothing but a few flurries are anticipated before this band eventually is squelched by the incoming high pressure.
Despite the high pressure building into the region, we continue to be under the influence of a persistent area of upper level low pressure over Hudson’s Bay in Canada. This huge vortex of low pressure continues to send weak impulses our way. One such impulse looks to impinge upon the region later Monday night and Tuesday morning. This system looks to be relatively moisture starved, however, it should be capable of depositing some light snow and snow showers to our north. The immediate Capital Region may see a few flakes and renegade snow shower activity, with minor accumulation at best.
Unsettled weather, with lots of clouds and some intervals of sunshine look to persist through the work week, with temperatures remaining at or slightly below seasonal norms.
