Low pressure over Kentucky this morning will continue to lift north and then slowly back toward the northwest through the day today and into Wednesday. A warm front will approach the Capital Region by Wednesday morning, but it remains doubtful if this feature will actually make it north of the area. This will be due to the fact that a secondary area of low pressure is forecast to form along the boundary to our east on Wednesday, thus perhaps turning this warm front into more of an occluded frontal system as opposed to a true warm front.
Regardless of the above mentioned scenario, it is clearly evident that a strong and robust southerly to southwesterly wind flow of warmer, and seemingly more humid, air will be transported into our region through at least the end of the work week. This should result in temperatures remaining well above seasonal averages. That being until a strong cold front pushes through the region Friday afternoon and evening, and chugs east of the area during the day on Saturday.
In the wake of the cold front, it looks as if some downright chilly air will be allowed to escape southward from Canada, and into the region, in time for the later portions of the Columbus Day weekend.
