Low pressure, over eastern Illinois this morning, will continue to have influence over our region’s weather through the end of the work week. A warm front will approach and pass through the region during the day today, bringing the threat for some showers and perhaps a rumble or two of thunder. Skies look to remain generally overcast and temperatures held back.
A weakening cold front slides through the region by Thursday morning, and though no real discernible temperature contrast is evident with this frontal boundary, a couple more showers may occur, with perhaps a rumble or two of thunder once again. Some sunshine may mix with the clouds during the afternoon as weak high pressure builds into the region behind the departing frontal boundary.
A stronger cold front looks to sweep through the region during the day on Friday and into Saturday morning. A more pronounced chance of showers looks to occur with the frontal passage, followed by a substantial cool down as we head into the weekend. A few instability showers may persist over the weekend as much cooler air filters into the area, and a reinforcing cold front sweeps briskly by to our north.
