Marshalltown 58, Ames 52
There will be a new Class 4A state champion this year after the Bobcats knocked off the defending back-to-back champion Ames High Little Cyclones Monday night.
Trent Trowbridge scored 18 of his game-high 20 points in the second half as Marshalltown (9-13) pulled away to set up a Friday night matchup with Valley.
Ames was expected to struggle after losing All-State players Harrison Barnes and Doug McDermott to graduation.
The Little Cyclones finished 7-16.
Fort Dodge 51, Mason City 49 (OT)
Drew Arends hit the game-winner with 1.2 seconds remaining as the Dodgers (13-9) advanced.
Arends finished with a team-high 17 points.
Sam Skogen led the MoHawks (8-14) with 18 points.
Lincoln 47, North 38 (OT)
Rodney Walker led the Railsplitters (8-14) with 14 points as Lincoln beat North for the third time this season.
North (3-19) was led by Darius Clemons and Teyontae Jenkins, who scored 10 points apiece.
Southeast Polk 66, East 21
The Rams led just 14-11 after one quarter of play, then used a 21-2 second quarter to blow the game open.
Sophomore Kyle Starcevich led Southeast Polk (13-9) with a game-high 16 points.
The Scarlets finished the season 1-21.
Dowling 49, Newton 36
Eric Lee and Ben Boesen scored 11 points apiece to pace the Maroons (17-5).
Dowling will play at No. 2 Hoover Friday night.
Roosevelt 63, Indianola 40
Peter Jok scored 22 points as the Roughriders crusied to the substate win.
Sam Norman added 13 points for Roosevelt (13-9).
Indianola (2-20) was led by Blake Marchant’s 10 points.
