Commercial title: First Date
With a day job as an editor for a children’s television program, Simotas says he used his Crash the Super Bowl entry, First Date, to step away from the G-rated format. The ad depicts a couple on their first date and the internal dialogue that plays within them. First Date is Simotas’ third entry into the Crash the Super Bowl contest and marks his first time as a finalist. If First Date brings in the winning prize money, Simotas says he’ll use the money to fund further creative projects.
Examiner: What does the term “entrerpenurial filmmaker” mean to you?
It’s tough to put into words. Think of being in an empty room with a single wooden door, and when that door opens, it reveals a metal door. Now imagine that cycle continuing; every door leading to another unique door, each one different from that last. Being an entrepreneurial filmmaker is a lot like that — for the longest time, you feel like you’re getting nowhere, but the journey is always changing and always interesting.
