Kristi Kon owned 6 local Quiznos from 2006-2010.Her Olive Park store was a Quiznos corporate training center.Quiznos changed alot of their policies.i.e,requiring francisees to purchase pre-sliced meats and cheeses, then took away all their slicers to prevent them from buying their own products, and then they would be FINED if they did so.It was TOO expensive for the owner, plus food quality and customer satisfaction plummented.LONG story short,Kristi sued Quiznos and WON! To which Quiznos promptly terminated all her contracts on June 30,2010.She could no longer operate as Quiznos. She still had her stores. What to do?She closed 4 of her stores, but only kept the Olive Park- 5826 W.Olive Ave. Ste.108 Glendale,623-915-2025, and Desert Ridge-20910 N.Tatum Ste.190,Phoenix,480-502-2025 locations.Desert Ridge is owned and operated by Kristi’s partner/owner Brandy Ehnes, who was only an employee when she woke up on June 30, So, LITERALLY OVERNIGHT on July 1, Brandy was now an owner/partner! Only in America folks!Quiznos sadly is fighting back, but Brandy and Kristi are refusing to be held hostage by them anymore! They now have the freedom to do their own thing-and believe me, they are doing it well!!
There are so many things I love about this place-their homemade chipotle mayo slathered on an old tire would make it delicious-their pride in their food, their attentiveness to customer’s wants and needs. They are constantly tweeking /expanding their menu to reflect that. They serve pudding, pizza, quesadillas, wraps, subs, breakfast at Desert Ridge-all from customers suggestions.Try the Asain chicken wrap-it’s Kritsti’s favorite. They truly do make food of love. And their prices are SO AFFORDABLE!!! I have too many favorites to name, but pretty muchly if it has the chipotle mayo, ham and cheese on it at least, I am a happy camper! Everything is always so fresh and delicious!
They buy all of their foods and supplies locally and they keep their money here in the Valley of the Sun.Now, how is THAT for loyalty?
Dad’s Deli and Subs name came from Brandy’s father, a stay at home dad,who did all the cooking.Sadly, he passed away at 48 due to heart problems.Brandy was so affected by his servant’s heart and attitude-and of course his good cooking-that she named it in his honor.
Dad’s Deli and Subs has 2 locations: Desert Ridge 20910 N.Tatum, Ste.190,Phoenix,480-502-2025 and Olive Park 5826 W.Olive Ave.Ste.108,Glendale,623-915-2025.
So,if you are looking for great food at a VERY fair price, served with love and where your opinion actually matters,Dad’s Deli and Subs is THE place! This restaurant truly is David who took on Goliath-AND WON!!!
Post Script-21JAN11.Since the writing of this article, I have revisited Dad’s Deli MANY MANY times and have found to my utter joy that the place is THRIVING!!However, I must sadly report that David a.k.a. Kristi Kon lost her battle against Goliath a.k.a. Quiznos against her Desert Ridge store.Somehow Quiznos found a loophole, and was able to force Dad’s Deli out.In saying this, she and Brandy have persevered in their outstanding food experience at their remaining Olive Park store.Even though Quiznos tried to eradicate them,it only made them stronger, and dare I say, more delicious!!Somehow-persecution always seems to have the OPPOSITE effect! You would think that Quiznos would learn.Go by and say hi to Kristi,Brandy and the crew, and tell them to keep on keeping on fighting the good fight!!!!
