The Wyly Theatre is located in the AT&T Performing Arts Center in the Arts District of downtown Dallas. It, along with the Winspear Opera House, was finished in October 2009. They both help to quench a thirst for performing arts in Dallas, and bring events to the downtown area.
The theater itself is an intimate space, ideal for a variety of performances because of its versatility.

Seeing one show here is not enough though, because each show could be housed in a completely different theater layout. The performance space can be transformed from a stage with up to 575 seats, including 3 balcony levels, into a completely flat room without any formal seating. The stage can extend into the horseshoe-shaped audience in a thrust style, or a number of other forms such as proscenium and traverse.
Additionally, the theater space is surrounded by glass walls which can either be covered by shades to serve as walls for the room, or as windows to open the space to outside, aiming to use the surrounding landscaping or downtown skyline as a backdrop.
As well as a unique theater space, the entire building is revolutionary with the lobby located below ground, on the level below the theater, and the dressing rooms, green room, costume shop, offices, and other areas are above, in the total of 11 floors of the structure.
One of the rehearsal rooms also transforms into a black box theater.
The exterior of the building, lobby, and most of the interior décor has a metal and concrete, modern design.
This weekend Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, a modern, big-band style group, played in the Wyly, and Dallas Black Dance Theatre performs this week and regularly in the theater.
This spring, The Dallas Theater Center will bring month-long runs of each “Cabaret” and “Dividing the Estate.”
Restrictions vary by performance, but some allow food and drinks in the theater during performances, with bars set up on various levels for easy access.
Tickets are available by calling 214-880-0202 or visiting attpac.org, and during business hours at the theater box office.
