About Cars Bath Time Paint Set
Each of these Disney Pixar Cars tub paint sets comes with four 4 oz. tubes of bath paint (red, blue, yellow, and green, with each tube decorated with the image of favorite Cars characters like Sally, Mater, or Lightning McQueen), a cute plastic tray that can stick to the side of the tub and that comes with two wells for holding or mixing paints and two holes for holding the painting tools, a paint brush, a plastic comb-like tool for making a scritchy pattern, and a foam stencil for painting a lightning bolt shape.
Cars Bath Paint Set toy review
The best feature of this tub toy paint set is the tray for holding tools and making it easier for kids to store and mix paint. In our testing, the tray stuck well to the tub wall. The size of the wells also encourages boys and girls to use reasonable amounts of paint, rather than squirting colors everywhere and making a wasteful mess.
The included brush works well for painting and the scraper is an interesting tool option that might inspire young artists to bring other utensils into the bath (such as plastic forks, spoons, or even spatulas) to see what other effects they can create in paint.
The lightning bolt foam stencil is cute, but tore in half after two test sessions. Children should use it with care. Looking at it may, however, inspire boys and girls to cut out their own foam stencils for future art play, which would be great.
One drawback to using this bath paint set is the warning on the box that cautions against using the colors around old or unsealed grout, as they have the potential to create permanent stains. Worried parents can work around this possible problem by requiring kids to create their masterpieces only on the sides of the tub itself, not on any tiled walls in the bathroom. We had no trouble washing the paints off of our test tub’s sides.
Priced at around $10, this creative bath paint set from Disney makes a nice reasonably priced gift or addition to a family’s collection of tub toys. Even after the paint runs out, kids can still use the tools and accessories (possibly minus the foam stencil) with new tubes or bottles of bath paint.
For fans of other Disney characters, there is also a Disney Princess version with a pink and purple color scheme and tubes of paint decorated with Belle, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella.
We were sent this product for review, but Chicago families should be able to find it at local Toys R Us and Kmart stores.
