A Rhode Island doctor was arrested after he allegedly smashed his Jeep Cherokee through the front window of Seekonk’s Country Liquors last Wednesday.
Barrington, R.I. doctor, Joseph Grillo, was seen on surveillance video smashing his SUV into the window, and he then gets out of the car and unsuccessfully attempts to reach in and take a beer of the counter. Grillo then returns to his car an drives away.
“It’s outrageous how people just want to knock our doors down to come and get our liquor,” said store clerk Marcy DeMelo to WPRI-TV.
Grillo was caught when he snagged a cigarette sign under his car, which began sparking as he drove away, reports ABC7.
“When he got out of the car, you could see him stumble a bit and he was eyeing the beers that we have on the counter” said store clerk Elizabeth Reed.”So he comes around and he tried to stick his hand in to reach for the beers and he’s not even close.”
This was reportedly Grillo’s second DUI, according to several sources.
“He went through all that trouble to apparently try to obtain some alcohol and gave up so easily…after going through that process,” said store manager John Wayland. “The whole storefront has to be replaced, it could cost tens of thousands.”
Regarding his emotions about the incident, WayIand spoke up saying, “I could have reacted in one of 3 different ways: I could’ve been angry, I could’ve cried or I could’ve laughed. All I could do was laugh especially considering no one was harmed and none of our inventory was ruined.”
“Word must be getting around about our large inventory and [people] are willing to break down our doors to obtain it,” said Wayland.
