On Saturday February 12th evening, Elise Øverland presented her FW 2011 collection in a one-of-kind style at the Standard Hotel Ice Rink. Models were showcasing the clothing in the center of the rink while professional skaters, also clad in Øverland, circled around them. The collection featured lots of fur, bright colored graphic prints, and patent leather. Highlights were a tangerine dress, a fur vest paired with a yellow tunic shirt and black leggings, and a white and black grid-like leather jacket paired with black leather pants. The choreography in the show was done by Johnny Weir who even showed up to give guests a surprise performance.
Later that evening, Bijules hosted a presentation for its jewelry collection at the Gramercy Park Hotel Roof Garden. The collection, titled as “Seize the kind,” featured silver and gold rings, necklaces, and earrings, all of which embraced a dream-like quality are inspired by the female anatomy. Waiters who were decked out in white tuxedos and Bijules tears on their cheeks carried pieces of the collection on silver trays. The jewelry is meant for women who seize the day, never letting an opportunity pass them by, and for women who appreciate the sensual wonders of life. Øverland and Bijules presented truly original collections that people will keep talking about even after NYFW.
