With the passing of Elizabeth Taylor, who died Wednesday in Los Angeles after a long battle with congestive heart failure, comes sadness and a time for mourning. For fans in Tucson, where the iconic actress filmed at our very own Old Tucson Studios in the late eighties, the news comes as an especially low blow. Mary Ellen of Tucson told TCHE Wednesday, “I like to go up to Old Tucson and walk the grounds, simply because I know Elizabeth Taylor has walked them. Now, I’ll be heading up there this weekend with an armful of violets.”
Elizabeth Taylor gave us many reasons to smile, and not all of them came from her screen roles. Besides her charity work, Liz Taylor gave us some wonderful words to live by in her last year on Earth. Today, we have compiled some of Taylor’s greatest modern quotes, given us via Twitter. We followed Elizabeth Taylor because, well, she was Elizabeth Taylor. However, we couldn’t have known the words of wisdom we would read with each tweet she posted.
Elizabeth Taylor Dead At 79: Her Wise Words To Live By
When Elizabeth Taylor died Wednesday, she was surrounded by her children. Now, her words surround us all with love and compassion. This was a great talent of Taylor’s, even more so than her on-screen prowess: her ability to love, and be loved.
“You are who you are. All you can do in this world is help others to be who they are and better themselves and those around them.”
On charity, love and life:
“Give. Remember always to give. That is the thing that will make you grow.”
“Every breath you take today should be with someone else in mind. I love you.”
Besides love, Elizabeth Taylor was also graced with tremendous wit. In this next quote, Taylor addresses rumors of a movie about her life:
“Hold your horses world. I’ve been hearing all kinds of rumours about someone being cast to play me in a film about Richard and myself. No one is going to play Elizabeth Taylor, but Elizabeth Taylor herself. Not at least until I’m dead, and at the moment I’m having too much fun being alive…and I plan on staying that way. Happiness to all.”
Last but not least, a quote from Elizabeth Taylor on her dear friend, musical artist Michael Jackson.
“If you listen to his lyrics, they are those of a modern day prophet and it beseeches us to listen to him and what he sang.”
