AccuWeather has announced this evening on its forums and Facebook pages that meteorologist Joe Bastardi has left the company after a distinguished 32-year career. Bastardi made no mention of anything related to his departure in his blog post this morning and weather fanatics around the country are now left wondering what his next step will be.
AccuWeather released this statement about the news…

AccuWeather.com community director Jesse Ferrell stated in the AccuWeather forums that he has not spoken to Joe [Bastardi] and does not know his reasoning, or what he is planning to do next.
A statement was also left on the Joe Bastardi Facebook fan page that read the following…
Farewell to Joe Bastardi who has left AccuWeather after a distinguished 32-year career. We appreciate Joe’s dedicated service to our clients over these many years and wish him luck with all his endeavors. In addition, a hearty congratulations to two great meteorologists who will both be taking on expanded roles — Paul Pastelok is now leader of AccuWeather’s Long-Range Forecasting team and Henry Margusity is taking an expanded role with the Pro site.
We can answer any (reasonable) questions here. Thanks for your support over the years.
Bastardi graduated with a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Penn State on March 4, 1978; the very next day he started at AccuWeather, the world’s largest commercial weather organization. Joe rose steadily through the ranks, receiving promotions to Forecaster and Senior Forecaster for his excellent work. Bastardi made it all the way to Expert Senior Forecaster at AccuWeather, and he was heard daily on a number of radio stations. His daily weather column was the most extensive in the business and has helped establish him, along with his videos, as the internet’s go-to guy for long-range and hurricane forecasting (Source: AccuWeather.com). Bastardi is also well known for his big stance against global warming, but there is no information to believe this is what led to his departure. We will have more information as it becomes available from AccuWeather.
