Collectors Day at Florida Museum of Natural History – Saturday, January 22nd 10-3 / FREE Celebrate the 31st Collectors Day at the Florida Museum. Families will enjoy viewing personal collections of trinkets and treasures from Simpsons figurines and surfboards to classic cars and war memorabilia. Kids can visit with the collection owners and discover that collecting isn’t just for scientists!
Craft Rendezvous at Stephen Foster Cultural Center – Saturday, January 22nd 10-4 / FREE Visit with Florida’s artists as they spend the day demonstrating their skills at handcrafts and studio arts. Blacksmithing, pottery, stained glass, basket making, weaving and painting will be among the creative arts showcased.
Gasparilla Children’s Extravaganza in Tampa – Saturday, January 22nd 11-7:30 / FREE The alcohol-free McDonald’s Children’s Gasparilla Extravaganza focuses of family friendly pirate themed activities along Bayshore Boulevard and will feature the Gasparilla Preschooler’s Stroll, the Gasparilla Air Invasion, the Children’s Gasparilla Parade, and the Gasparilla “Pira”technic Extravaganza.
Lowe’s Build and Grow Clinic – Saturday, January 22nd 10-11 / FREE This week’s project: Ball Toss From project basics to giving your child the opportunity to say, “I built it!”, our Build and Grow kid’s clinics are a great way to help build confidence! Bring the kids into any Lowe’s store and build a FREE wooden project. Each participant also receives a free apron, goggles, a project themed patch, and a certification of merit upon completion of their project. Advanced registration is not required, but supplies are limited.
Zumba for Schools – Saturday, January 22nd 9-1 / $40 The Alachua County Public Schools Foundation has partnered with Gainesville Health and Fitness Centers to offer a fun, 4 hour Zumba class. We will have special guests such as UF’s Albert and Alberta, the UF Dazzlers, and other special guests!
Newberry High School Cheerleasers Mini Cheer Clinic – Saturday, January 22nd 8-12 / $35 The NHS cheerleaders will host a mini cheer clinic for grades kindergarten through 8th grade. Participants will learn basic cheer techniques as well as a routine that will be performed at the NHS vs Chiefland basketball game on January 28th. All participants will receive a t-shirt.
Stargazing at Hickory Ranch Paynes Prairie – Saturday, January 22nd, 6:30PM -9:00PM / $5 a person and FREE for children 6 and under. Enjoy an evening of STARGAZING at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park. Come learn more about the stars and the planets thanks to the Alachua Astronomy Club who will supply the telescopes. Enjoy sitting around a campfire while sipping hot chocolate & making smores and take a hayride around Hickory Ranch.
