Ford has done it again, they’ve managed to pull a rabbit out of the hat…oops sorry Volkswagen. Let’s try…Just when Detroit needs all the magic it can get, the all new 2011 Ford Fiesta is in line to be a show stopping, super seller for the 2011 model year. It would be almost impossible to have missed one of the hundreds of Ford television commercials celebrating the arrival of the 2011 Ford Fiesta, and celebrate they should, this car radiates success from all directions.
Heritage Ford of Modesto owners, Brett and Pete Smart said, “We are excited about the arrival of the new Fiesta for 2011 on several fronts. As far as pricing and value, the Fiesta is a great entry car for the first time buyer. As for affordability, with our lines of credit and financing, we would be hard pressed not to be able to put a first time buyer or a buyer with a less than perfect credit history into this car. We have a lot of shoppers wanting a new car that is economical to operate and maintain. The 2011 Ford Fiesta delivers almost 40 miles per gallon on the highway, and coupled with Heritage Ford’s Oil Change for Life program…now that’s real economy.”
The 2011 Fiesta has two distinct body styles in which to choose, the five door hatchback and the four door sedan. For our test vehicles we drove the Fiesta SES hatchback and the Fiesta SEL sedan. The Fiesta can be purchased in one of four series levels; S, SE, SES Hatchback, and SEL Sedan.
The Fiesta hatchback design is quite striking, a bold design that targets the youth market as well as car buyers wanting to stay on the leading edge of technology. The use of LED lighting on the front fascia, LED turn signals on the side view mirrors, strong accent lines on the car’s side panels and brilliant color schemes are the result of new styling directions from the Ford designers.
The Fiesta four door sedan has really clean lines with a hint of German styling. (This is of course while standing back from the car a few yards, squinting your eyes and having the Fiesta parked next to a BMW.)
“We’re staying true to Fiesta’s Euro-centric ‘kinetic’ design the world over,” said Moray Callum, executive director for Design, The Americas. “This is a new direction for Ford in North America, building on the bold designs that set apart Ford’s full lineup of vehicles. Fiesta sets the stage for more to come.”
The first impression driving the Fiesta is how quiet the car rides on the highway. There is very little road noise and no wind noise, these are two items that are usually prevalent in a compact automobile, but who wants to dwell on that…let’s crank up the sound system.
Ford’s exclusive SYNC® & Sound: Includes an additional auxiliary 12-volt power point, supplemental audio controls, 80-watt premium sound with six speakers, a unique center console and Ford SYNC voice-activated communications and entertainment system with 911 Assist, Vehicle Health Report and Traffic, Directions & Information services. This includes turn-by-turn navigational assistance.
Fiesta offers a wide array of available technologies including a class-exclusive Intelligent Access with Push Button Start, a remote starting system and a keyless entry keypad for added driver convenience. Heated exterior side view mirrors boost visibility. Ambient Lighting allows Fiesta drivers to choose between seven interior accent lighting colors, while SIRIUS® satellite radio adds to the car’s comfortable and sporty package. A four-inch multi-function screen gives occupants useful information at a glance from the cell phone-inspired center stack.
The Fiesta’s quick handling and steering response really make for a fun driving experience due in part to the power rack and pinion steering and the suspension which utilizes independent MacPherson struts with stabilizer bar in the front and Twist Beam with coil springs in the rear. In non-technical terms, the 2011 Fiesta is really “zippy”.
Cargo space is a surprising 25 cubic feet in the hatchback with the back seats folded down and 12 cubic feet in the SEL Sedan. The roomy interior allows for easy entry both in the front and backseat areas.
The neighbors will be envious when you drive up in your new Fiesta and believe me they will notice especially with your color options. The 2011 color palette includes Yellow Blaze, Red Candy, Lime Squeeze, Bright Magenta, Blue Flame, Monterey Gray, Tuxedo Black, Ingot Silver and Oxford White.
Find out for yourself what all the excitement is about…get inside this car, test drive it, and think back to some of the earlier years of compact vehicles. It is really astounding how much technology is packed into the new 2011 Ford Fiesta in all the areas of passenger convenience and comfort; safety and security; functionality; handling and performance; and last but not least…economy and value.
