Nadia’s Gyros & More
Ethnic cuisine has been gaining popularity in Arkansas’ second city, in fact a few ethnic restaurants have opted for a casual dining atmosphere like Nadia’s Gyros & More. Nadia’s Gyros & More opened in late December at the food court in Central Mall. The restaurant serves the popular Greek dish the Gyro as well as sandwiches, salads, and wraps, bringing a new flavor to the food court. Owner Nadia Serbout chose to open her restaurant in the food court because she had seen the success of similar places in Oklahoma City and felt that this type of establishment could do well in Central Mall. While there are other establishments in Fort Smith that serve Greek Cuisine Nadia’s will make a customer’s Gyro to order. They offer several different types of cheese besides Feta and can add Chicken or Steak instead of Lamb.
Nadia’s Gyros and More is located at 511 Rogers Ave FC #4 Fort Smith AR, 479-452-2300 They are located between Steak Escape and Neighborhood News.
Sip’n’Dipity is not a new place actually an old place with a new name. Sip’n’Dipity is owned by the same people who owned the Marble Slab franchise in Fort Smith. The owners grew tired of being under a franchise and decided to sell the franchise name back to Marble Slab and create a store based on their vision instead of someone else’s. While this might have left a lot of folks were wondering whether anything else has changed besides the name the answer is yes and no. When the owners gave up the franchise they gave up Marble Slab’s brand of ice cream, so Sip’nDipity’s management staff had to locate another vendor to supply their ice cream. Other than that Sip’n’Dipity is using the same equipment right down to the frozen slab that the ice cream is mixed on and has the same staff that Marble Slab had.
Sip’n’Dipity is located at 8632 Rogers Ave Fort Smith AR 479-484-9607
Goody’s Frozen Yogurt
Yogurt shops were quite popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It seemed like every populated area had a TCBY. However the yogurt fad dwindled as the new millennium arrived. One restaurant has reinvented the yogurt shop, and that places is Goody’s Frozen Yogurt. Goody’s Frozen Yogurt is a self service yogurt shop where the customer creates their own dessert from start to finish. Here is how it works: a customer picks up a cup, chooses toppings like M&Ms, Whoppers, etc, and adds their syrup. After all that an employee weighs the dessert and charges the customer according to how many ounces are in a cup. While other shops like Menchie’s, YoGo Station Frozen Yogurt & Smoothies, and Yogurtland have already introduced the concept of a self service yogurt shop in other parts of the country, this is a new idea for Western Arkansas. The restaurant is only a week old but already has plans to open a second location in Van Buren near Wal-Mart.
Goody’s Frozen Yogurt is located at 7613 Rogers Ave Fort Smith AR, 479-452-3200
