Have you ever wondered what it would be like to shop in a sophisticated Parisian boutique? Lucky Chattanooga women do not have to travel to Paris for a Parisian shopping experience. Nathalie Welch, a native Parisian, has brought French sophistication to her boutique, Rhinoceros, which opened in November of 2010 in the upscale Warehouse Row in downtown Chattanooga. Fashion and art, philanthropy and environmentalism, focus of Nathalie’s passions, are reflected in the name Rhinoceros. She hopes to raise awareness of the “unique and misunderstood” rhinoceros and puts her money where her heart is by donating a portion of her profits to the Save the Rhino foundation. Her fascination with the rhinoceros began when she was required to read Eugene Ionesco’s classic play “Rhinoceros” while in school. The message of the play, committing oneself to a significant cause in order to give life meaning, stuck a chord with Nathalie and became a way of life for her. Nathalie feels she is fulfilling her dream of merging both fashion and environmental awareness in her boutique Rhinoceros.
From the moment you step into Rhinoceros with its rustic and contemporary decor, you know this will be a new and unique shopping experience. Nathalie shops markets in Europe and New York and hand picks amazing designer labels not available in other Chattanooga stores to bring new and exciting fashion choices to Chattanooga. Women who shop Rhinoceros appreciate individuality, exquisite craftsmanship, French sophistication and style. A perusal of the clothing racks reveals labels such as Alex and Eli, Patterson J. Kincaid, William Rast jeans, Foley and Corina, Torn by Ronny Koba, Stacia, Daftbird, and the iconic French label, Rodier. There is also vintage and eclectic handcrafted artisan accessories and jewelry from all over the world. You can even purchase the classic perfume, Gin Fizz by Lubin, created in 1955 for Grace Kelly as well as other Lubin fragrances.
Some of spring 2011 hottest trends can be found at Rhinoceros – tailored jackets in menswear suiting with feminine accents such as lace and velvet, sheer blouson tops and tunics, and fringed macramé tops. Exquisite evening wear doesn’t disappoint with sequined tops, rouched strapless cocktail dresses, and black chiffon skirts and tops. If you want to go casual, you can choose from House of the Gods white tanks or William Rast boot cut jeans.
Right Bank or Left Bank, you choose which side of the Seine best expresses your fashion sense, but you don’t have to travel to Paris to find French sophistication and style. Step into Rhinoceros and it will be like stepping into the most “classe” boutique on the Avenue Montaigne. C’est Vrai!
