Below are my comments from a recent press conference held on Martin Luther King Day, January 17th. More than 40 political and religious leaders gathered together to emphatically state, in unison, that the Civil Union Bill, our Springfield legislators sneakily passed under the cloak of darkness, has no correlations to the Civil Rights movement. A movement characterized by beatings with billy-clubs, babies being bitten by vicious police dogs, young teens and old women being water hosed by their local fire department and so much more. All of this physical, emotional, and mental brutality administered simply because young blacks no longer wanted to pay the same price as whites, but be forced to pick up their food at the back of a restaurant. Because, older black women, after working more than a full day, no longer wanted to give up their seats to a white man. Because, black men no longer wanted to swallow their dignity just to swallow a sip of water from a dirty water fountain.
I have heard of no one who chose the gay lifestyle enduring such demeaning tactics by the very establishment that swore an oath to protect all citizens. In fact, according to the latest available FBI statics, out of a reporting population of over 278 million people, those crimes that were committed against a person based on them being gay was a whopping .0005%.
There were far more violent crimes committed based on race than any other crime. However, if one only relied on the liberal media and paid-off politicians to get their news, they would be sorely misinformed. Those choosing a gay lifestyle are not a targeted group of people for violent attacks. Instead, in our culture today, homosexuality is celebrated. Gay people are not underprivileged people!

Official Comments for the “Civil Unions” Press Conference
January 17, 2011
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve heard many commentators who were obviously sympathetic to the gay lifestyle; ask the same question over and over again, “why are THEY so obsessed with gay people” – “they” meaning those who oppose the gay AGENDA.
Overlooking their sophomoric responses and considering the question for myself; for me, the answer is a simple one. I am not obsessed with gay people, or their lifestyle. Instead, I am obsessed with the gay AGENDA and I am absolutely obsessed with FREEDOM!
Several things fall under the banner of Freedom. But, I want to highlight 2 of them:
- I am obsessed with Freedom of speech in all its varied forms, including the Freedom of Religion.
- As a mother of two little ones, I’m absolutely obsessed with the freedom to exercise MY God-given parental rights in raising MY children according to my moral compass. Versus, my parental role being usurped by an overreaching, overbearing government that is bent on normalizing the gay lifestyle.
Most American’s assume that the gay AGENDA simply wants equality. It is not equality that they so rabidly pursue. It is domination! It is to the exclusion and censorship of the dominate voice in this country that inherently judges their lifestyle as immoral and perverse.
The American people’s preoccupation with the gay AGENDA is not an irrational one. Instead, it is a stance that is based on real occurrences of FREEDOM being limited for the majority in order to accommodate the lifestyle of a minority in this country.
For example, in 2009 our national leaders passed a Hate Crimes bill. Before us, however, Canada also passed a Hate Crimes bill (C-250). Like our bill, the Canadian bill is ambiguous. Providing no clear definition of what is considered a hate crime.
Now, fast forward 6 years since Canada’s law, on April 20thof last year, Dale McAlpine, a Baptist preacher, was arrested and charged with causing “harassment, alarm or distress”. He spent 7 hours in jail for responding to a question, I, myself, have been asked several times; that is, “is homosexuality a sin?” His crime was that he shared his belief, something most of us take for granted in America – the ability to share our thoughts.
Our own U.S. Representative Steve King stated that the passing of the Hate Crimes bill “not only create a class of people that are ‘more equal than others’, (but will) hinder (our) ability to preach the gospel and openly teach biblical principles”. Our Freedom of speech is in jeopardy.
Secondly, my oldest child starts kindergarten this upcoming school year. My excitement for this milestone is somewhat tempered by what is occurring in our school system.
As a nation, the United States ranked at 33 in Reading skills, 27 in Math and 22 in Science. Given these dismal rankings, one would think our national leaders and public school system would focus on excelling at their primary job before assuming a new job of legislating morality in the school system.
But, instead of focusing on their primary job of teaching the 3Rs (i.e., Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic), they spend their time on activities such as the, Day of Silence, building sexually oriented high-schools, and the reading of non-conformative gender role storybooks to 1stgraders (like the story book “King and King” depicting two little boys kissing on the cover). Now you tell me, how do these things propel and prepare our children for their future?
The morally bankrupt decisions don’t stop at the public school system, however, but goes right up to our courts. For example, the latest ruling of the 9thU.S. Circuit Court of Appeals stating “Schools cannot be expected to accommodate the personal, moral and religious concerns of every parent”. This statement being made to parents who objected to a California public school giving a survey to elementary kids that included sex-related questions.
Here’s my challenge and it is not to those who are sympathetic to the gay AGENDA. Instead, it is to fellow Christians, fellow Constitutionalists, and fellow morally conservatives. We must become educated on those things that are occurring in our communities, in our public schools, and in our government. In addition to becoming educated, we must also begin to stand up and speak out against the gay AGENDA that is being forced upon us TODAY.
