“Food Network” beauty Giada De Laurentiis stays skinny by following a portion-controlled diet and exercising every day. Giada said her weight loss secrets include yoga workouts and never overeating, Celebrity Health Fitness reported.
Being around delicious food all day isn’t a problem for Giada, because eating small portions is a deeply ingrained dietary habit she has always lived by.
Small portions [are the key to staying thin]. When it comes to pasta or things that are very filling, I find that after three or four bites, I often don’t need to eat much more.
But I will tell you that there are times where I cannot control myself. It’s usually with sweets, chocolate especially.”
While resisting the temptation to overeat can be hard, it’s easy for Giada because of her sensible approach to dieting.
“Food is not the enemy!” she said. “It’s not food [that makes you fat]; it’s how much you eat. I eat pasta, but a small portion, not a giant one, and I eat more greens than carbs.”
De Laurentiis, who was married to designer Todd Thompson from 2003 to 2015, said her body changed when she gave birth to daughter Jade Marie in 2008.
“[My breasts] shrank,” said Giada, author of Happy Cooking: Make Every Meal Count. “That’s usually the first thing to go for women because they’re a lot of fat. That, of course, is the one thing you don’t want to go!
“When I was trying clothes on at a photo shoot, I kept saying to the stylist, ‘What about my boobs in this dress?’ And she’d say, ‘Oh you’ll be fine.’ But I had to tell her, ‘Hey, these are real, and they just don’t stay up by themselves. I had a child, and they just don’t perk up on their own anymore.'”
De Laurentiis, who’s as famous for her big breasts as her delicious Italian food recipes, doesn’t mind playing up her sex appeal.
I think it’s okay to cook and be sexy. Why not?
I do get a lot of emails from people, especially women, saying to me, ‘You don’t have to show cleavage to get the male audience.’ I don’t. That’s just how my body type is, and I’m very comfortable with what I have.”
Giada exercises every morning to maintain her size-two bikini body, doing yoga, cardio and calisthenics. “Morning workouts, every day, are the best thing for me,” she says.
De Laurentiis added: “I do yoga, which I got into while I was pregnant, or a half hour on the elliptical and 20 minutes on the treadmill. Getting up and getting my blood going gives me energy for the whole day.”
