The Fancy Food Show was packed with people from the food industry. Manufacturers and producers large and small filled both the North and South Hall of the Moscone this past weekend from January 16-18. The show is an annual event for the folks in the food trade.
So, why report on this?
Gluten free was being talked about at virtually every booth and new products were EVERYWHERE! Fellow Celiacs and gluten intolerant, this is really exciting news!
New products abound
Many of the familiar manufacturers were adding new products, using new ingredients and expanding choice. Companies that once only produced gluten products are now testing gluten free selections in the market place. New companies from all over the globe exhibited products not yet available in the U.S. and ranged from healthy fruit based snacks to breads and pasta made from new and unusual gluten free grains grown organically in South America. Gluten free stuffed pasta, anyone? How about really tasty ethnic sauces that you just pour over your choice of carbohydrate, heat and eat? For the kids, gluten free candies with nutritional value! Stunning!
Restaurant and institutional packaging for these new gluten free foods was also a hot topic. This means that we may look forward to more restaurants providing safe gluten free choices and hopefully, schools, hospitals, retirement homes, cruise lines, airlines, hotels and any other service company that provides food, too!
New company and product profiles
Over the next few weeks, profiles of these companies along with details on the upcoming products will publish here. Don’t miss out. Subscribe by clicking the Subscribe button above, now!
