Getting ready for a super bowl party? How about naturally gluten-free homemade guac dip?
Fat has gotten a really bad rap in the Standard American Diet (SAD). Without good fat, you’re not satiated and your hair, skin, and nails, end up dry. Avocados are actually some of the healthiest fruit you can eat. They contain heart healthy monounsaturated fat, especially oleic acid. Avacados also contain the carotenoid lutein which helps with macular degeneration. They are high in potassium, Vitamin K, folate (Vitamin B6), and copper.
So add some avocado slices to your salad or make some guacamole. One of my favorites ways to eat more avocados is to add to a green smoothie. So let everyone know in the comments what your favorite way to eat avocados is!
juice of 1 lime
1 small onion diced
2-3 cloves garlic skin removed and minced
½ tsp Real Salt or Celtic sea salt
1-2 roma tomatoes diced
Fresh minced cilantro to taste
For a spicier guacamole add:
A few dashes of hot sauce OR
A little cayenne pepper OR
Some fresh diced jalapeno pepper (may want to wear latex gloves when cutting these up to keep your skin from getting burned)
Slice avocados, remove pit and scoop out flesh in to a small mixing bowl; mash avocados
Add all other ingredients and combine. Enjoy!
For leftovers: cover with plastic wrap so that the wrap is directly in contact with the surface area to prevent guacamole from turning brown.
