The Creator of the universe, The LORD of the heavens and the earth wants a relationship with you. From the very beginning of the creation of Man, God has wanted a relationship with his creation.
It is very evident in Genesis 3:8 of this desire for a relationship with man. Genesis 3:8 states “Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.” This described event occurred following the poor decision of Adam and Eve to disobey and sin against God by eating of the forbidden fruit in Genesis 3.
What is unique here is God was walking in the garden where man lived. God humbled himself and left his place of glory in heaven, he entered the time, space, and history of man to engage man in a relationship and this is not the last time God entered history to seek and engage man in a relationship. Man was set apart from all other species of creation and given a special status by God.
Man was created in God’s image and in God’s likeness as described in Genesis 1:26. No other species of creation has this special characteristic. No other species in creation can think like man, reason like man, or create like man. Man was given free will to make decisions in all aspects of life. Man was given dominion over all of the earth to rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the livestock and over all creatures that move along the ground, Genesis 1:26-28.
Mankind was also created to serve God and be a good steward of his creation, Genesis 2:15-17. No other species of creation was found to be a suitable helper or partner for man, so God made Woman for this purpose, Genesis 2: 18-22. Man and Woman were made for each other to complement one another and to be one another’s helper in all aspects of life as husband and wife, Genesis 2:23-25. This was the natural order of life as God had originally intended.
But the sin of man against God in the garden ruined this relationship man had with God and threw creation into a chaotic situation and a series of curses were enacted on creation because of Man’s action. Man could no longer be in the presence of God because of sin and man was ejected from the garden paradise God had made for them. The curse of sin was now on mankind and the curse of sin was death, Genesis 3:1-24.
Despite Mankind’s rejection of God by sinning against him, God kept a interest in his creation. God enacted a plan of salvation for man so the relationship once enjoyed by the Creator and his creation could be restored. This story shall be continued, until next time may God keep you safe and blessed in your walk of life.
