As the political realities of the losses suffered by the Democrat party in November come home; Democrats across the country cause gridlock to block the voters will. In November the Republican Party took back the House with a 60 plus seat gain. At the state level Republicans gained over 680 seats and gained control of 14 state legislatures for a total of 24 state legislatures in their control. This is nothing less than historic and was meant to send Obama and the Democrats a message, “the people do not like your agenda.”
The Democrats have totally ignored the message and the media helps them to cover their trail of deceit. Democrats speak into the microphones of reporters as if they are following the will of the people, they tell the reporters this is what the American people want; when in fact the November elections say something totally different. The protests in Wisconsin are a result of Republicans doing what the voters put them in office to do, cut spending; Republicans took control of the state legislature in November, and Democrats are refusing to comply as the minority. Disagreement is what all politics is about and that is legal and expected, but the Democrats are willing to lie, cheat, and steal to get their way; the ends justifies the means!
In the national spotlight we have the debate over the budget and so far no one has blinked. The Republican house is doing what they were sent by the people to do: cut spending!! The Democrats refuse to allow the will of the American electorate to be brought to Washington and have started the blame game touting a Government shutdown. This is a time for the Republican Party to show what it is made of; shut the government down! Who cares what the media and others will say, shut it down! Marietta Journal columnists Matt Towery spoke to this issue in a Feb 20th column entitled, “Some advice for Boehner … shut it down,” here are some of his remarks:
Enough with the gamesmanship of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and the silliness of House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. It’s time for Republicans to let America know that the GOP means business — cut the budget deeply, or shut her down! (Towery, 2011)
The Republicans have shown some real willingness to move forward in spite of the daily onslaught of media bias. The media will continue to report these events as if the Republicans just “out of the blue” went nuts and started draconian cuts; the democrats and the media will continue ignoring the November elections as if they never happened. The Republicans received a definite mandate from the voters last fall and they should be unafraid to make the tough choices ahead. The Republicans have always tried to play politics in a fair and honorable manor in the past; wake up gentlemen, you are dealing with a rouge government and a party that will win at all costs. This type of fight requires drastic measures and a willingness to get just as nasty as they have gotten in the past.
