“BP has done more damage to harm the American homeland than al-Qaeda could ever do.” Quoted by Dr. Thomas B. Manton
Gulf oil violence escalates
A Gulf human rights reporter, U.S. government Gulf operation critic, framed political prisoner, was murdered Thursday. Dr. Tomas B. Manton passed away Wednesday, January 19th after assaulted at Liberty Correctional Facility in Bristol, Florida where held as a Falsely Imprisoned Person (FIP).
Dr. Manton had been leading the suppressed Gulf Truth movement, calling the Gulf Operation, America’s Worst Man-made Catastrophe.
Truth is the first casualty of war, often uttered, seldom learned, Stephen Gowans has written on Media Monitors Network, apropos for today in relation to the Gulf. In May, Dr. Manton was already warning about truth that people would suffer the Gulf operation’s poisonous impact all the way up the East Coast.
“Once the winds change, it will then come eastward and pollute the beaches of the west coast of Florida and the “loop current” could carry this oil spill right around Florida, through the Florida Keys and pollute the east coast of Florida as well,” Dr. Manton wrote on May 28.
Dr. Manton served as President and CEO of the International Oil Spill Control Corporation. The hailed Gulf Hero then joined the growing number of silenced American political prisoners, U.S Falsely Imprisoned Persons (FIPs), “Dr. Manton was serving an unlawful 15-year prison sentence, convicted of a crime he did not commit” according to Dr. Tom Termotto’s written statement today about Dr. Manton.
Dr. Termotto expressed grief last night over present violence against astute human rights defenders attempting to prevent further widespread harm from the U.S. government’s Gulf operation. Only the night before, on Rense Radio Network, Termotto had publicly exposed assassination attempts on BK Lim, another rights defender who has released data evidencing extreme discrepancies in the recent Oil Commission Reports.
Dr. Manton had become an increasingly vocal critic of BP’s response to the Gulf oil “spill” and had written “five searing articles” about this according to Termotto.
“He was particularly distressed that the US Federal Government allowed BP to completely take charge of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster area, as his experience taught him that the offending oil company should never be given command over the oil spill response.”
Like Gulf oil whistleblower Matt Simmons who tried to warn the public about the high human death toll the operation was creating, Dr. Manton attempted to warn the public about severity of the Gulf operation, quoting the words of what he referred to as a dear elderly friend, “BP has done more damage to harm the American homeland than al-Qaeda could ever do.”
That indictment must be the greatest leveled at not only this largest British company but at the direct supervision and control that President Obama admitted of his own Administration in his press conference,” reported by The People’s Voice.
Government-oil dissident justice denied
Termotto recalls mysterious circumstances surrounding Matt Simmons death, referring to Simmons as “another courageous voice with international stature who informed the world about the true state of affairs in the Gulf of Mexico.”
Before his untimely death, as well as explaining how the worst on human health is yet to come from the Gulf operation, Simmons had explained how BP knowingly failed to respond appropriately and then lied and how TV participated in a massive psyop helping BP. There have been so many scientists and doctors falsely imprisoned in the Gulf Coast area related to the oil industry and health, many professionals are too fearful to report data without compromising integrity of findings according to this writer’s sources.
To believe these are only oil thugs is naive. For example, this writer has witnessed an FBI file kept on a woman advocating for Louisiana women suffering reproductive health injuries, disease and miscarriages – associated with oil pollution.
Citizens suffering medical abuses also fear retribution for reporting their illnesses and subsequent inhumane treatment to this journalist.
According to Dr. Termotto, who has stepped away from his practice to defend human rights being violated in the Gulf operation, the so-called U.S. justice system failed Dr. Manton as it has most whistleblowers – people who tell the truth instead of pretending as told to do.
“Given Tom’s advanced age, serious medical conditions and health problems, and complete lack of criminal history, he should not have been placed into the general prison population. The Florida Department of Corrections further failed Tom Manton when they exposed him to the dangers associated with violent criminals who prey on other inmates with certain crime labels.”
“When Tom Manton was framed for a crime he did not commit, many of us wondered who it was that exercised so much power within the Florida Criminal Justice System,” stated Dr. Termotto.
“He was railroaded through the criminal justice process with such speed, force and determination – after the BP Oil Spill received so much national and global attention – that many of us could only come to certain disturbing conclusions.
Termotto states that when the 15-year sentence was handed, after Dr. Manton was led to believe time served would be his only prison requirement, all his colleagues became very concerned.
“His sentence, given all the extenuating circumstances, exceptional disregard of various criteria, and flouting of sentencing guidelines, was unprecedented in Florida history.”
“Just who is responsible for railroading, and then killing Tom Manton – a true HERO of the BP Gulf Oil Spill?” asks Dr. Termotto.
And “more importantly,” writes Dr. Termotto, “How will this nation, which Tom Manton served with great self-sacrifice, generosity of spirit and concern for his fellow Americans, honor his awesome legacy?”
How will this nation protect surviving humanitarians who are working in best interest of people instead of in best interest of corporations and military?
