Addison High’s ninth-grade squad had an 8-7 lead at the end of the first quarter of play with half the points coming from Blake McCombs, but a 15-3 second quarter in favor of the Hanceville Bulldogs gave the home team a 22-11 lead at the half and 44-18 victory on the night over the visiting Bulldogs from Winston County.
Chris Smith scored two baskets in the third quarter and was complimented by teammate Austin Ingram in the stanza for the only six points score, as Hanceville upped its lead to 28-11. Smith again scored to start the next quarter and was fould on the play to finish off a 15-0 run that carried its way back into the first half.
Isaac Horton dropped in a shot for Addison to stop the bleeding, but the damage had already be accomplished by the home Hanceville Bulldogs. Lucas Simmons, Keith Twitty and Bronte Harris finished off the scoring for Hanceville with 11 of the game final 15 points.
Smith led Hanceville in scoring with a game-high 16 points, followed by Harris with 14 points on the night. Twitty had five points (all in the fourth quarter), Ingram, Simmons and Torrey Green each scored two points, and Marshall Johnson chipped in with three points.
Addison was led in scoring by McCombs with a team-high seven points, Mason Robinson, Landon Robinson and Noah Langley each chipped in wht two points, Horton had four points and Logan Griffith contributed with one point.
