Hanceville Bulldogs varsity basketball team jumped out to an early 10-0 lead over the Addison Bulldogs with the inside play of D. J. Leslie and Lance Twitty. Both Hanceville players had two baskets, with Leslie also dropping in two free throws. Nick Pratt got Addison on the board midway through the first quarter. Each team added two more points for a 12-4 Hanceville lead after one period of play.
Broc Malcom and Pratt swapped baskets, then a 3-pointer by James Dingler sparked a 14-4 run by the home-standing Hanceville Bulldogs to close out the half on top 28-10. Most of the game appeared to be in slow motion, as neither team could produce much offense in the 40-23 victory by Hanceville.
David Armstrong dropped in a trey to begin play in the second half, then Jesse Seales scored two straight goals for Addison. However, the visiting Bulldogs still found themselves down by 20 points and could only close the game by three points in the final quarter. Cade Cooper had four points in the final frame for Addison.
Hanceville was led by Leslie on the night with 12 points, Twitty and Armstrong each knocked in six points, Dingler and Dylan Mooney each contributed with three points, Diamond Simmons and Malcom each chipped in with four points and Eric Clopton finished with two points.
Addison was led by Cooper with a team-high six points, Adam Clarke, Pratt and Seales each with four points, Seth Robinson contributed with three points and Holden Suddeth dropped in two points.
