That’s right, the birthers are sniveling idiots upon whom certain agendized politicos taking advantage.
As you may have heard, lawmakers in a handful of states are introducing bills requiring presidential candidates to prove they were born in the United States. The bills (all introduced by Republicans) would require presidential candidates to furnish a birth certificate or risk being kicked off the ballot in that state.
“We don’t think the president was vetted,” said state Rep Leo Berman, who introduced his birther bill in the Texas statehouse. He claims he doesn’t know whether Obama is “a citizen or not.”
“My colleagues love it,” he says.
Other states introducing such legislation include Connecticut, Missouri and Oklahoma.
It’s not even politics. It’s selfish partisan hackery.
Texas, which used to love boasting about its sound conservative fiscal policies, is now eating crow as it struggles to address a $27 billion-dollar deficit –one they conveniently hid with a) a two-year budget policy, and b) by paying their bills with federal subsidies all while their governor talked about how the federal government spent too much money.
You’d think this sort of budgetary embarrassment would be high priority for a lawmaker, but not so with Mr Berman and his “colleagues.”
And why now? Before Obama, this was never an issue, but now it’s just a good idea, right? Never mind that they have no evidence that he wasn’t born here (save for the fake documents); if they’re going to accuse him of being “not American,” they’re the ones assuming the burden of proof. Does Mr Berman have some sort of proof the president wasn’t born here? No, he just offers innuendo and rumors. Are we going to let every crackpot challenge every candidate he doesn’t like? This is from “the party of no ideas,” grasping at straws to delegitimize the president at every turn.
Stop and think for a minute. Who benefits from this conspiracy? The country is in a mess and someone thinks the country of birth of the U-S president is in question? He has already been vetted and elected. You think someone can run for president of this country without his or her entire life being turned inside out? Without the opposition having his background checked? He has already been thoroughly checked out by the CIA, FBI, NSA and every other alphabet agency under the sun, and that’s not counting every potential political opponent who can hire any private investigative operation to dig up every nook and cranny of an individual’s life. You didn’t hear those agencies weighing in on this during the campaign, did you? Why not? None of Obama’s potential presidential opponents dug up anything –why not? If anyone would have, it would’ve been Hillary Clinton. Why didn’t she?
Because it doesn’t exist, which means someone’s pedalling this nonsense at your expense while they benefit. So who benefits? The ones who profit from using fear to distract people from what’s really important. And birthers are stupid enough to be the perfect targets of such manipulation. And politicians are enough of a bunch of scumbuckets to swim into the deep and dirty end of the pool so long as there’s a chance for political gain.
President Obama provided the birth documents that the State of Hawaii requires and provides; he can’t do any more than that. How is Hawaii’s short form birth certificate, recognized by that state as satisfactory proof, going to pass muster for people in a state that has a different standard, like a long form certificate?
More to the point, why would it even matter to opponents who are clearly driven more by partisanship than facts? Does anyone honestly think Mr Berman cares about Obama’s place of birth? None of these birthers do. Not a single one of them would care what was presented, be it a long-form birth certificate (which doesn’t seem to exist) or a time machine to take someone back to the hospital in Hawaii at the moment of birth (which definitely doesn’t exist).
This isn’t about anything legal; it’s entirely about everything political.
In fact, I’ll bet there are a LOT of things Rep Leo Berman doesn’t know.
