Ingrid Newkirk, PETA, Shocking Revelation “Supports Euthanasia of Healthy Animals In Shelters, Condemns NO KILL Shelters”
What has happened to Ingrid Newkirk? She has dropped the ball regarding shelter animals, her attitude is totally negative, her arguments are misleading, and deceptive. Her winter 2010 edition of Animal Times was a manipulative bit of double talk, buzz words and ever so condescending definition of succesful No Kill Shelters.
In her article “A message From Ingrid E. Newkirk” her twisted bit of fluff on Euthanasia is laughable. Her unimaginative solution, the murder of all abandoned and stray animals is flawed. She completely avoided the fact that Kill Shelters can be a profitable business, selling dogs and cats for vivisection (Pound Seizure) while many of their dead corpses are sold to universities and hospitals for dissection. Killing animals can be very profitable.
In the same issue of Animal Times, she also wrote a very biased and negative column which was a deceptive and critical article on No Kill Shelters. She lied by deception representing hoarding situations as No Kill.
It is time PETA steps back and makes room for a more positive forward thinking groups. It should be abundantly apparent to Ingrid after more than 100 years of killing these animals, it doesn’t work. She writes like a deluded, inappropriately euphoric teenager in love, only her infatuation is an egregious and insipid death sentence. She wrote this insensitive and illogical comment
Quote Animal Times, winter 2010 “UNTIL THERE IS A HOME FOR EVERY ANIMAL BORN, LET’S BE GRATEFUL FOR ANIMAL SHELTER WORKERS WHO PROVIDE ANIMALS FOR WHOM NO GOOD HOME CAN BE FOUND WITH A PEACEFUL EXIT FROM LIFE.”
Ingrid’s organization takes on virtually all animal issues. PETA’s capacity to expose, advocate, and indoctrinate sweeping reforms in the cesspools of animal abuse is mind boggling. Like a proud Oak tree, PETA stands tall and looming with many branches reaching like loving tentacles, embracing the suffering animals.
What happened? A woman that has taken on huge corporations, became a global power is stupefied to find a solution to the excess populace of domestic animals?
Ingrid is either for all animals or against them. She is at best a confusing, pious contradiction of her own theologies.
Viewing videos of these unfortunate animals as she puts it, “receiving a peaceful exit from life,” they weren’t looking too happy to me. In fact they were extremely frightened, stressed, pitiful and heartbroken creatures They were quivering as they bravely and hopefully trusted these humans, their future killers, to comfort them! Instead they winced as the needle weas threaded into their veins and they then were injected with an overdose of this innocuous fluid, Sodium Pentobarbital. They then sadly collpased and died. Their demise just a number on some chart, another corpse, disposable and dismissed forever from any hope of a future home and love.
Ingrid may call being terrified, held prisoner by human predators taking your life against your will “a peaceful exit from life.” Many people call it as it is MURDER! Not only is this a tragedy but despicable and unnecessary.
There are many forms of euthanasia that are extremely painful, cruel, inhumane and agonizing. The gas chamber and heart stick are miserable ways to die. The heart stick needs to be administered under very strict and astringent circumstance with two people assisting in the killing. Most puppies and kittens are killed by the heart stick without sedation as their veins are too small for the peaceful exit from life.
Then lets not forget those who kill these animals in a cruel and inappropriate fashion with absolutely no concern for these animals misery and terror. Not sedating an animal before heartsticking them, using the squeezebox to hold them secure so workers can effortlessly plunge the needle into their heart or carelesly into their chest cavity. Many animals have writhed in agony for quite a few minutes before finally deceasing because of shelter workers indifference in using the liquid death.
The gas chamber is no better. They force numerous animals of various sizes into a brutal container. Piled on top of each other like garbage with the noxious gas suffocating them, they lose control of their bowels and bladders while vomiting and struggling to breath. Their deaths don’t come quickly as they endure a great deal of agony and suffering.
Ingrid needs to recognize domestic animals’ lives are as important as any other animal. Her mandates are contemptible in their flawed justification of the murders of millions of these abandoned creatures each year.
Ingrid is either part of the problem or part of the solution. She loses this one. Her credibility is becoming dismal and vague. She could become as replaceable to many of those domestic animals she finds so easy to murder.
Here is the reality, euthanasia of domestic animals is unacceptable, cruel and doesn’t work. It has proved to be ineffective for over 100 years, killing these dogs and cats solves nothing. Now new and effective solutions and alternative actions are available, inffective deaths to control pet population are no longer considered an option.
We don’t need Ingrid to discourage new and effective endeavors and distribute misleading information regarding No Kill Shelters. Her stubborn determination to continue to support euthanizing domestic animals is forming a huge crevice in the foundation of PETA and people aren’t accepting her archaic, draconian and flawed mandates!
If she is going to roll over and play dead on this issue and then deceptively represent No Kill Shelters as hoarders with examples of flawed attempts made by uninformed, ill advised shelters? She is only going to gain the criticism and contempt of a large number of people. She can’t overlook and falsely discredit the many successful efforts and works of such people as Nathan Winograd. This attitude and rhetoric will evolve into a vapid and dismal reflection of Ingrid’s credibility.
Is she threatened by of Nathan Winograd’s successes? Her negativity and misleading article in Animal Times “Hoarders, Coming to an Animal Shelter Near You” is yet another step downward as PETA descends into the past, replaced by new organizations more fitting for our present times and life saving efforts.
There is only one thing that is absolute, that is change. Ingrid’s stagnant options, her choice of murdering healthy animals represents a foolish, selfdestructive and belligerent attitude. People are rapidly moving forward, she will find herself choking on their dust as they surge into the future where people choose the option of life over death. While she still remain sitting there, unyielding, foolishly arrogant and forgotten as she allows PETA to fall down.
