Everyday people are fighting for “A Life Like Yours” – the rallying cry of The Arc of Virginia. To respond to this rallying cry, local businesses and musicians are gathering in support of this advocacy organization. Mark your calendar for January 26th and be part of this great Community Give Back event.
For decades The Arc of Virginia and its affiliates have been serving the needs of Virginia’s intellectually and developmentally disabled citizens through programs, education, resources, and advocacy.
COMMUNITY GIVE BACK
Community Give Back events celebrate the efforts and achievements of local advocacy organizations like The Arc of Virginia. On Wednesday, January 26th from 5 – 9 p.m. Mosaic Café in the River Road Shopping Center, Erin Mahone and Bob Blagg join forces to show their support. Mosaic will very generously donate a portion of the pre-tax sales for the evening to The Arc of Virginia. As a small, but active non-profit, The Arc team has expressed immense appreciation for the fundraising opportunity.
Erin Mahone and Bob Blagg will provide live jazz from 6:30 – 9pm. Having worked on behalf of individuals with disabilities, advocate Erin Mahone is excited to support the cause by donating music for the evening. Erin and Bob play Jazz brunch at Mosaic regularly, in addition to various events throughout Richmond and the surrounding areas.
Everyone has known, or does know, someone with a disability. The issues facing this community are of value and relevance to us all. Individuals and families experience great challenges living with the needs and demands of a disability. But often, these needs go unmet due to lack of funding for necessary resources.
As we begin 2011, may the spirit of giving remain in our hearts. Everyday people are fighting for “A Life Like Yours” – the rallying cry of The Arc of Virginia. Let’s do our part to Give Back to this advocacy organization by having a great meal, some drinks, and listening to Jazz.
