“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” – Mohandas Gandhi
It’s not often when a Hindu gets one of these, but “Amen, brother!” There’s validity to that, right? I should know, I am a proud one… and if there was a “Christian” family reunion, I would never go. Pig flu. Malaria. Whooping cough. I’d find some ailment that prevent me from attending and getting that tee shirt.
Talk about douchebaggery. Go to a Sunday brunch and ask any server about their experience. I’d be surprised if you don’t get a few eff bombs and at least one orange juice hurled in your face.
Why? Because of the tomfoolery reported in CNN’s Belief Blog regarding some storefront organization called JesusHatesObama.com, and a certain advertisement they wanted aired during Super Bowl XLV that has been since denied by FOX.
A spokesman for Fox, which will broadcast the Super Bowl on February 6, would not say whether the network rejected the ad.
“If an advertiser wishes to submit an ad for consideration, we will review it and determine if it’s appropriate for air,” said Lou D’Ermilio, a spokesman for Fox Sports Media Group. “However, we do not provide information about the materials that may or may not have been submitted, nor do we discuss our broadcast standard polices.”
You tell me. You think that vitriolic mess was worth $3 million?
I mean, really? Does anyone who believes in God believe Jesus would scowl and give a mean mug to the leader of the free world, and then use his Jedi mind to hurl said president into a fish bowl?
Well, one colossal lunchbox does:
“Do I really believe (that) Jesus really hates Obama? No, but I do believe in freedom… as in the freedom to poke fun at the Obama administration when I don’t agree with their policies,” said Richard Belfry, who began selling Jesus Hates Obama merchandise in 2009, in a Thursday press release about the ad’s rejection.
It amazes me how many espoused Christians declare a commitment to God, but would have Alex Trebek doubled over in smarmy laughter over their dazzling recollection of God’s Word.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9 NIV).
Get that? Anyone.
Barack Obama says he is a man of faith and a follower of Christ. And although while in office, his fruit is a skosh shriveled to back up that sentiment, who are we to hold that statement in judgement?
Moreover, who in the H-E-double hockey sticks are these tools to sell wifebeater shirts and trucker, fish net caps to promote a message that Jesus hates Obama? Oh yeah, complete and utter idiots who know nothing about Jesus, and just enough about the Bible to be dangerous… or a little profitable among a select few missing a chromosome or two.
Good on FOX for dening these dolts their 15 minutes. Maybe they can use that $3 million burning a hole in their overalls for a Hooked on Phonics class. Or possibly a ‘Gandhi’ DVD. He seemed to understand Jesus a lot more than they do.
