The National Enquirer once again may have the real story on John Edwards and his secret Christmas proposal to Rielle Hunter, mother to his love child. It’s less than a month since the death of his wife, Elizabeth Edwards, and reportedly he has taken the children to meet his mistress and Baby Quinn. JOHN EDWARDS SECRET PROPOSAL TO MISTRESS
We knew that Elizabeth Edwards expected a blended family, but definity not a marriage.
Despite his infidelity, last month it did appear that Edwards was preparing to take over as head of household even as news swirled around about Rielle Hunter waiting in the wings for a wedding – a bit reminiscent of Camilla Parker-Bowles after the death of Princess Diana.
Let’s all keep in mind that Prince Charles did marry Camilla Parker-Bowles and the children seem to have accepted her — though not as a Princess Diana replacement.
With regard to Baby Quinn, she might be just what the younger children need in the wake of their mother’s death.
A blended family
Elizabeth Edwards did set the stage for a blended family, but when embracing John’s love child last Christmas keep in mind that it was on neutral territory and Rielle Hunter was not present. Read: Elizabeth Edwards: see John as loving dad, not cheaing spouse — linked at end
She did point out that Baby Quinn would be a part of the family — though she made no mention of Rielle Hunter.
Nonetheless, this from and earlier RadarOnline.com: “A source close to the mistress Rielle Hunter and to the Edwards family exclusively told RadarOnline.com: “Rielle has been very patient through all of this. She still believes that John is her soul mate, and she thinks that they’re going to get married.”
Elizabeth’s meeting with Baby Quinn
As I reported earlier: Upon meeting little Quinn, Elizabeth said, ‘Go stand next to Daddy,” and she took a picture of John and his love child, according to People.
For the sake of family and a child who is half-sister to the Edwards’ children, Elizabeth Edwards met and embraced John’s baby Frances Quinn.
At some point in a person’s life there must be forgiveness. This meeting with Quinn is Elizabeth’s example of forgiveness and acceptance to give her own children. Keep in mind that she told Larry King and Nat Berkus that she actually looked forward to being a Step Mother if she and John could have worked things out.
“When John and I were trying to make it work, I was actually sort of looking forward to my role as step mom. It’s hard for me to think of a child as anything but a wonderful gift. I love children; love spending time with them; I love getting things for them…but it didn’t change what happened between John and me. Nate Berkus Talks to Elizabeth Edwards about Life and Design
