John Lasseter has just been casted as John Lassetire in Disney•Pixar’s Cars 2. No that is not a typo. Not only is Lasseter directing the film, he will also have a small cameo in it. The Associated Press reports that Disney•Pixar surprised the company’s chief creative officer with the surprise cameo in the film. Lasseter will voice a yellow pick up truck.
“It was news to me,” said Lasseter, who is also serving as a director on the sequel. “I did not know about that, so I was a little surprised. I ended up voicing this character. It was just one line, but now I have a ‘Cars’ character. I’m very excited about that. He’s a good ol’ American pick-up truck, which I think is very appropriate for John Lassetire.”
This is a nice gesture from the people over at Disney•Pixar. Lasseter has been a key part of the Disney•Pixar success, so it only seems fair to give him his own character in the film.
Lasseter’s character will serve as a one of the members of a pit crew for a high profiled car. To see the entire image click on the slideshow to the left.
