The Golden Globes might have passed on his work but the 42nd Annual NAACP Image Awards has not, giving Justin Timberlake a nomination for ‘The Social Network’ ! Timberlake along with Halle Berry, Janet Jackson, Michael Ealy, Anthony Mackie, Queen Latifah, Idris Elba, Common, Jaden Smith, Whoppi Goldberg, Jill Scott, and Kerry Washington are among those nominated in the motion picture (film/movie) categories.
Nominations for the 42nd Annual NAACP Image Awards (2011) were revealed by Columbus Short, Kimberly Elise, Sanaa Lathan and 50 Cent in Beverly Hills, CA Wednesday, January 12.
While ‘The Social Network’ failed to garner an Outstanding Motion Picture nod, Timberlake joins Don Cheadle (Brooklyn’s Finest), Idris Elba (‘Takers’), Samuel L. Jackson (‘Mother and Child’) and Michael Ealy (‘For Colored Girls’) as an Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture nominee. The latter of the aforementioned nominees, Michael Ealy, scored just one of over seven nominations for ‘For Colored Girls,’ the much-talked-about film directed by Tyler Perry. Completely dominating a number of categories, including Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, with nominations going to Anika Noni Rose, Kimberly Elise, Phylicia Rashad, and Whoppi Goldbeg, ‘For Colored Girls’ is joins Perry’s ‘Why Did I Get Married Too ?,’ Just Wright, The Kids Are All Right, and The Book of Eli as an Outstanding Motion Picture nominee.
Anthony Mackie, Denzel Washington, Jaden Smith, Morgan Freeman, and Common will face off in the Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture field. Halle Berry (Frankie & Alice), Kerry Washington (Night Catches Us), Queen Latifah (Just Wright) and Zoe Saldana (The Losers) join Janet Jackson in the Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture field.
